I'm not sure it makes much difference unless you are tracking the car and getting the calipers hot enough that the paint is changing color. There is no legitimate data out there, but my spray sealants hold up for a few weeks between washes on the caliper so I doubt the heat is a big deal for the resins. Maybe it does shorten lifetime, but who knows. I think people coat the caliper just because when you have the wheels off and you've cracked open a bottle of coating then why not, even if it didn't last that long. Most of the wheel coatings are really the same as the paint coatings but higher solids versions, but it has more to do with chemical resistance and ease of cleaning than temperature.
