Here is my F10 after 3 years 30K miles still looking brand new. In comparison, the windshield is pitted pretty bad.

Don't know what it is... maybe LA... routes I take but just don't seem to be much of an issue here. Car has 45k miles now, still essentially mint, even under the more extreme looking glass.

Yikes, that environment sounds like it makes sense to do that though.
