If I wanted to be higher up, I woulda bought an F-350 and lifted it. The X1 is neither tall enough to be a real SUV nor low enough to be a wagon. Also, the A3 is over priced and well, garbage. The VW is the same thing as the A3 really. Plus, no AWD makes for difficult driving on mountain roads.
As for not buying a 1er or a 3er, well I need 4 seats. That crosses the 1er off the list, and the new 3er feels big and sloppy. The X1 fit what I needed and wanted well without breaking the bank.
The dealer is 100% behind the install of the springs, hence why I went that route as opposed to a cheaper alternative of doing it through an independent shop. Everything is covered through the dealer. If I break a spring, they call ACS and have them send a new one. All said and done it was about $1800 CDN including parts and labour. Of course they did an alignment after, surprising to me, the before number (after spring install) showed that really only the toe was affected. Still needed to be done though.
I find my dealer really easy going about aftermarket parts on cars. There's a lot of modded bimmers here that go through the service department. They're also a Dinan dealer, so they must like making their cars go fast.
