Yes, no, no

I say M Sport is a must for the seats but mostly for the painted body which for me was a must because I can't stand the black body molding. The suspension is a nice to have but seats and body for me were a must. Also like the M Sport wheels better.

M Sport Suspension - Ditto if you like want your vehicles to look and feel super sporty, go for it. The harsher suspension was a bit too much for us.

Servotronic - If you're new to BMW, it's very likely it that you'll like it, especially for slow speed and parking maneuvers. If you've been driving BMW for a while and like to be in complete touch with the road/vehicle, most likely you will not like this option. Definitely try both.

HK Stereo - The BMW stock audio system is already very good. If you prefer music genres that sound better with a lot of bass, the HK system might be worth the extra expense. There is also less distortion with the HK stereo at very high volume.

Largely depends on your expectations and desires. I saw sport suspension is ALWAYS required on BMW...fatal flaw for most x-drive models. That said, it's a crossover, not needed if you don't expect it to fit the sporting car dynamics. Non-sport suspension still does a great job and a bit more compliant if you're hauling kids.

My 3-year old calls my wife's M-sport X1 the bumpy car...coming from Audi Q5. Bonus, the rougher ride puts the infant to sleep immediately.

Servo - meh, unless you're a bit weak in the arms.

HK - stock stereo in X1 is actually the 2nd from top tier stereo, a series of options below it around the world. A better system than was offered in E90/E82 as base. In short, not bad sound quality but mediocre division of sound and separation it handling of mid-level. An easy fix if you're purchasing the car.

GREAT seats, and the Body colored trim/molding a deciding factor for me as well. I'm already accustomed to sport/stiff suspension, so I love the way it feels....

Curious. What do you do for the "easy fix"?

Too soft compared to what? Is it possible that you've gotten used to it after driving it for a while?

Also, notice where I live.

What soaks up bumps are the shock absorbers, which (from what I can tell) aren't any different on the M-Sport - the springs are.
And it does have servo. Try to turn the wheels while the engine is off.

If you want lower, you might want to look at the 3er wagon.

Servotronic is becoming standard in 9/13 builds. BMW wants them to have all the suvs to have it.

Servo is an option; it's not standard.

I somewhat agree. The springs seem fine - no careening, cocking a wheel or understeer. However, I wish the shocks were a bit tougher and longer. I'm afraid something's going to break when I crest a hill.

SWMBO thinks it's too hard and harsh as is. But it's my car

Having owned 3 M3's and a 2007 X3 MSport with 19' wheels the X1 M Sport feels soft to me. No firmer than my E93 335 with sport package.

Where did you find out Servotronic is becoming standard ///jbeck? It is current standard for xDrive35i models, but not sDrive28i or xDrive28i.

Sorry for the response delay, crazy weekend. BMW put out the builliten a few weeks ago:

***IMPORTANT***
We are pleased to announce that starting with August, week 33 production, Option 216 (Servotronic) will be 100% equipment on the Model Year 2014 X1 2.8i (14XA) and X1 2.8xi (14XB). This change brings the X1 2.8 in line with the X1 3.5 and the New X5 (F15) which all have Servotronic as 100% equipment.

All Model Year 14 X1 2.8 vehicles equipped with 216 (Servotronic) that were produced prior to week 33 and have not be wholesaled will show no charge, which is a ($230/$250) reduction in wholesale/retail price.

... And I am pleased to learn that my non-Servo 2013 M Sport likely just became a little more desirable on the used car market. There's nothing wrong with wanting servo (my wife certainly would have), but it should have remained an option. Oh BMW what is becoming of you?????
