All aboard the DON JUAN

Anyone else on this ship?

Scheduled to be in NYC on March 1st. Hopefully I will take delivery a few days after that.

Anyone know how long after the boat arrives will the car be at my dealership in Connecticut? I figure about a week.

Ha! The admiral says it's not necessary to check the location of the ship multiple times daily.

It's mostly her car anyway, so perhaps she is right.

The wait continues. I wish there was more of an aftermarket/mod culture for this car. I mostly attribute that to so few having already been delivered so far.

There is going to be an aftermarket for this car. actually there already is if you look at the 135i or 335i after market. Well that is if you have the n55 motor in the 35i... there are all kinds of tunes, intakes, charge pipes, down pipes etc... out there and wheels.

Aftermarket cupholders capable of holding a standard US 20 oz / 591 ml Coke bottle would be nice... And a real ashtray with pipe holder.

From what I can tell, the availability of aftermarket offerings seems to be not only based on popularity, but price. Cheaper cars get more 3rd party stuff even when less popular, perhaps because they have so few of the things as standard. For higher priced cars, 3rd party offerings are more often performance mods.

Car in transport on the ship Mignon!

Currently in Gothenburg. Next stop is Belgium, then UK,
then off to Halifax where it will be offloaded and railed to the West coast.
I think the ship continues on to NY, and SC to drop off more cars.

That link is for cars shipped on W&W vessels only. Mine was on K-line. Besides W&W do not bother updating the system with VINs most of the time. Your sales rep should know what ship it is on. Just ask for the ship name. Then go to http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/ to track it.

Thanks! Last week my car supposedly arrived in NJ. The website says it is in "finishing touches" since last week, though the phone number says "car is at port waiting shipping vessel"???

Anyway, I think my car made it across the pond and is no longer on a boat. Now I try to pretend I am still patient!

If you were on the Don Juan, your car may be with mine being held at the Port of Entry.

I am waiting on parts for a steering campaign. They are "hoping" the car will make it on a truck up to CT next week. The wait continues........

Well folk, if I may update you all and bid farewell to this part of the forum...

Dealer says that the "steering campaign" is STILL waiting on parts with no concrete eta of my car. This has left me to do some thinking.

We are a two car family and my daily is a GMC Sierra Crew Cab. Therefor, the more I though about it, the less I need a crossover. So tomorrow the dealer is prepping an in-stock 535xi for us. Really looking forward to the car.

Best of luck with these X1s. They are very cool little cars, just not exactly what we need right now.

Man! Coming out of my GMC, even the bigger and heavier 5 series likes to run on the highway. I keep having to slow up when I'm touching 85mph. She has no problem stretching the legs.

Maybe I'll do the jb3!
