My X1 held at POE for Steering Campaign. Waiting on parts... - XBimmers

Bumbed. Was supposed to pickup today but when I emailed me CA today to confirm, he said the car was still at the port of entry.

Apparently we are waiting on parts for a “steering campaign”. Sounds like an internal recall to me. Car is a 35i. Anyone else hearing anything about this?

He said he would update me, not tomorrow, but on Monday. This sounds like a lengthy thing if parts are coming from Germany.

Its been a long wait. Now its painful.

Paddlegate, perhaps?
My dealer had to re-order my 35i M-Sport because it came without the paddle shifters that were on the order.

If that's the case, and they try to fix it themselves, they'll find out it can't be done (in a supported way). What wheel you have is encoded in the VIN, and changing it will throw a code, and BMW NA won't support the vehicle.

If I happen to go by the dealership tomorrow I can have them scan my key and see if anything is showing against the 35i.

I don't think its a paddle issue.

I'm just wondering how far behind the car were the parts trailing.

I'm def bumbed. I guess I'll wait to hear approx how much longer it will be on Monday.

If its weeks, I might loose it.

None of us have heard of a "Steering Campaign". If you could get some more info from your dealer what this is, it would be appreciated. Right now, all searches go back to this thread and the leech sites that feed off it.

Update:

They are STILL waiting on parts for this "steering campaign" with no concrete ETA. I had to make a move as the admiral is needs a car to drive home for Easter. So we will take delivery of a 5er and let my X1 become dealer stock.

Salesman said the Steering Campaign is holding a great many X1's in NJ. I'm suprised I'm the only one mentioning this here.

Considering that my 35i M-Sport X1 arrived on a boat after yours, and was not held for any "Steering Campaign", I think they're BSing you.
Why no information of what this "Steering Campaign" is except the words "Steering Campaign"? It makes no sense.

Yea it is odd. I was not coerced into the other car by any means.

The car was within the 8week delivery range so perhaps it was my extra sensitivity to tracking that made the delay aware to me.
