3k Miles later (opinion)

So Ive been in my Bimmer for 3000 miles now.

35xdrivei Every option possible with the M package.

Besides my friends calling it a chick car, I have been extremely pleased with the car. The performance is much better than I have ever imagined. Faster 0-60 times than a majority of things on the road. The turbo on this thing is perfectly matched and refined.

I have owned over 20 Audis/vws/porsches and 1 other BMW...E30M3 with S52.

I have a couple of complaints though:
1. Where the heck are the vanity mirror lights? My 1990 M3 had them..
2. Why are there no lenses on the map lights?
3. RUN FLATS
4. Inner headlights as a dummy lens is pointless
5. No sun visor above the rear view mirror
6. Mirror heating seems very inadequate
7. Satellite radio doesn't display a fancy album cover or anything..My Buick rental had that.

That's about it. Over all its one of my favorite cars ever owned.

1. Do you have the lighting pkg.? If so you should have the visor lights.
2. Cost cutting at its best from BMW. Even an X5 didn't have light covers
3. Welcome back to BMW, I believe all new bimmers, except //M's, are now equipped with runflats
4. Agree
5. Never heard of/seen this before. You mean some cars have 3 visors?

Angry

Which lighting package? Is it available in anthracite headliner? I have the lights in my outside door handles...are there other things?

Third Visor: Yeah audis and VWs had the third visor even in their turd editions and I miss it.

I agree. I dont need a vanity light, but my wife complained about that the first drive in the car. I believe it comes with the ambient lighting package which I didnt get. Oh well. I absolutely love the car. Coming from 4 X5's this car has been a lot of fun to drive. With Msport I dont think its a chick looking car at all.

My Audi Q5 didn't have any 3rd visor nor did my VW Golf TDi...so I guess mine weren't even worthy of "turd edition" status.
Dang it!

Evidently, the one that you didn't get with your

IIRC, on the x28i you have to get the lighting package in order to get Xenons so that made the package a must have for me.

my sentiments mirror those of "two-five"
and...

6. Haven't noticed this so much but if it is when I go to the mountains I may be just as disappointed. However, calling what we have "mountains" compared to what you see in Denver is a real stretch. I suppose hills is a better description.

7. I didn't even know that fancy stuff was available on any car. I rarely look at the screen much when using the NAV. I'm sure that album art would be pointless for me.

I've just hit 3k on mine! No problems at all! Very fun to drive, I have the 35i sport line with pretty much everything! No complaints really, I'm just waiting to see how it fares in the snow, I left it at the airport for 2-weeks in the harsh cold came back and no issues, prolly took an extra 5 seconds to wake up, but that's still cool cuz I was expecting a dead car upon my return.

I'm confused, you must have the lighting package if you have the door handle lights but you don't have vanity mirror lights? And to have the lighting pkg you must have the premium too so it really is puzzling.

Ug, I'm trying to figure all this out and want to be sure to have them on the car.

I have a sDrive28 with the Premium package, and no lighting package. I do not have vanity mirror lights but I do have the door handle lights.

Same here. xD28i with Premium has door handle lights, even though no lighting package. My wife hasn't discovered there are no vanity mirror light yet!

I have the ultimate package, I guess its not ultimate enough to get vanity lights, very lame of BMW. I don't have auto high beams so I definitely don't have the lighting package.

Does anyone have the lighting package with ULT, Premium, M, 35ix, tech, driver assist, NAV with enhncedBT, sat radio, HK sound, Apps?

seems to be a bad decision for BMW on a car that's 50K.
