sport seats, long trip?
When I first test drove an X1, it had the standard seats. Very comfortable.
Didn't have a chance to test seat the sport seats at the time. But since I love the sport line look of the car, it comes with the standard sport seats. I'm planning to have lots of long distance road trips and wondering if the sport seats are nice for long trips. My dealer is 8 hours away, so its tough to jump in and see. So, anyone have sports seats and would not recommend long trips? Thanks! |

Sport Seats are very better for long trip. I didn't have the sport seat in my 128i and have it now in my X1 .... will never buy again a BMW without sport seats.

For me sport seats are more comfortable than the standart seats.
8 hours away from the dealer, wow, in Switzerland most people have dealers in 30min ranges.

Comfort is supreme and the extra amount of adjustablitity is an absolute boon - up 6 inches, down 6 , tilt 30 degrees, side bolsters in & out, knee support in & out. Wouldn't be without them. Was happy to pay an extra $1000 for them.

Don't worry, I think they are great. Just drove 5000 km in 2 weeks in an X1 M sports package I thought they were great and not a complain from my wife who is the more comfort oriented of the two.

Speaking of the ability to adjust the knee support. A former car I had, I got a Recaro sports seat for, and it was great. That seat also came with an extra wedge to add when extending the knee support.
Are there any third party makers for such a wedge for the BMW sports seats (the frame/mechanism also made by Recaro, unless I'm mistaken)? |
