I plan your cities

I kinda like it. It will at least match my K2 snowboard. I can see that being my winter ride, and my 135i my summer and spring.
Im guessing the model with the wolf on the side is a promotional vehicle for K2 and the two with just the X on the side is for the public I HOPE. |

BMW, continue making crap like this and spending R&D on each and every demographic.
In the meantime, Jaguar comes up with this beauty - http://www.jaguarusa.com/models/f-type/ |

Wow what vitriolic responses. Are Special Editions so unusual for BMW? They are just advertising gimmicks, and I assume they have been proven to serve the purpose of getting a particular model more attention and thus greater sales overall, regardless of how many of the Special Edition are actually produced and sold.
That being said, they do look goofy in the pics. But they will stand out in a crowded "Auto Show" floor, I bet. Bear in mind that the one and only time in my life I wore skis, I came off the lift (after about a 15 minute training session by a good buddy who just wanted to get started with his own skiing), hit a decline, couldn't stop, swerved to avoid a kid and twisted my knee so bad I screamed out "I broke my leg." Spent the rest of the afternoon in the cafeteria, in moderate discomfort, until everyone had had their fun. Did have to hobble on a single crutch for a week or so to repair the knee, however... Never again. And certainly not in the Powder Ride X1... |

the decals are terrible. they could have made this so much cooler. why not just add a special colorway and interior trim, a badge (removable) and the ski pod?

Ex Xterra owner here, that car was one of the worse cars I ever owned. The technician drive it more than me. And you can't compare the two: the BMW is a refined automobile which with all "wanna be" takes me in the same places like the Xterra without even sweating it, the XTerra is was a very plastish car with a very cheap fit and finish, rust after one year and a very old engineering in all aspects.

Nevertheless, I do like the way she's taking those in her mouth. Quite honestly, that's all I really noticed and liked about this photo. ![]() Last edited by misterbeemer; 10-02-2012 at 12:11 AM. |

If u cannot see the other couple^... then perhaps the one couple u see is the ONLY couple BMW is marketing that car to. Honestly, the demographic for that model has to be a total of 8 people. Bcuz sitting up mountainside on the ski slop, cooking food (alone) is why everyone must buy this X!... right? Has BMW ever followed what people do on Sunday tailgating before a football game..? So ignorant it hurts.. I wonder... do cross-country skiiers get the orange jambox too... or do they get a different color? What about snowmobile'ers... Moutain bikers.. is BMW going to come out with an X1 for each sport than might use their BMW..? Paintball version, surfing version.. What about BMW marketing department getting in touch with Home Depot and making a HD version so that we look real kewl when we pick up mulche & shrubs at Home Depot. Hey BMW, what about a "Driver's" version.. with 6 manual..?

Cheese...
What's really sad is that i don't see anything that will make it handle the snow any better. The "improvements" are perception over practical. I mean 19" wheels in the snow? As Nancy Karrigan once said, "Why... Why... Why... Oh why?!!?!" And for the dude from NY making fun of NJ. People in glass houses... Last edited by popopine; 10-04-2012 at 01:25 AM. |

They should absolutely come up with BMW X1/X2/X3/X4/X5/X6 editions for farmer, ranch, ski, hiking and camping, biking, tailgating, soccer moms, etc., each with different graphics. I'm sure there's a demographic large enough that wants those. I'm one of the demographic that is slowly moving away from BMW...after having 5 BMWs in the family...next car is most likely the Jaguar F-Type V8 S. It evokes feelings that BMWs of yesteryear did. |

Who gives a shit if none of you like it. BMW isn't coming back and forcing you to put these decals on your vehicles.
BMW is currently the most valuable automotive company, just recently passing Toyota. Clearly they are doing something right. So who cares if only 100 people buy this? They're not forcing you to. They're not making all alpine white X1s look like this. BMW has more than enough business and marketing experience. Let them decide what they want to release to the public All these BMW critics here but their numbers aren't lying. Whether you like it or not their strategy is working |
