it really depends on what allocation you are buying and when the next build date will be for the options you choose. It takes a week to build and about a month to transport, but often times orders will be in cue for a month before they are built and then sometimes completed cars wait at the port of exit for up to a month. So to answer your question, it takes 5-13 weeks.

I ordered June 15 and received it Aug 25. My build date was the last week in July so from the actual build date I took a month for delivery in SC.

I hate hate hate waiting for anything.

Good news the X1 is the opposite of the X5-- which was caught in customs for a potential recall.

Production will be completed 4 Sep. should take delivery mid-Sept. (no customs, no shipping)

Placed my order last week. Dealer said that BMW indicated it might take a little longer than usual for the X1 (due to popularity? don't know, maybe he is blowing smoke). Instead of normal 6-8 weeks, it may take 10-12 weeks.

That's just according to my SA...I'm hoping it arrives here in the Pacific NW by Nov 1! He sounded surprised that we'd received an early Sept slot...

I'll try this before posting a new topic. In the E90post forum you're likely to get lynched for starting a new topic prematurely.

Any west coast deliveries that are recently completed and waiting for a vessel to bring their X1 from Bremerhaven to Port Hueneme, Ca? Our X1 was completed on Sep 6th and is awaiting a ship as of 12 Sep.

My CA has promised to get me a ship name by next week. From there our X1s can be tracked across the pond, and we can also determine the day they will arrive in California for prep. I'll post all the info I get.

Between E90post and Bimmerforums I was able to track my 335 and see pictures of the K-line ship as it went through the Panama Canal (a bimmerforum member sat at his computer and posted screenshots of the live panama canal cam. Another member that lived in L.A. went and took a photo of the ship as it was anchored off the port. A bit obsessive, but fun to share the tracking of our cars.

Jeremicium, we're on the same boat now! BMW's notice to US dealer says that if not receiving by Sept 23rd. there'd be a problem. Again, that'll only be "a problem", either bmw nor the dealer is to be fined. Wondering we can cut some hundreds when pay the dealer?

How are you finding out what ship it will be on? I'm super anxious to get my new car and it's been complete waiting to ship for about a week.

That's the problem. Dealer has showed me their order-production list from Germany, the deal between them is: the whole batch of production number 3982057 (finished production as of Sept. 6th)should be arriving the States no later than 23rd Sept.

I'm guessing this is the second or third shipload to continental NA, the first one should be showroom cars (white sdrive28i / Black xdrive35i) for all dealers and a small number of pre-ordered inventory arriving early August. The second ones should be a small amount of cars pre-ordered, referring to goodcarsales.com (or so), only around 580 cars were involved in these two batches. The third ones should be ours.

Right now, they're accumulating containers at the port. Have no idea when shall be shipped. usually take 10 days to get here. Presuming from Germany to NY harbor, so East Coast would see the cars earlier. West Coast may wait for another 3-5 days.

Again, any action could technically be done to cut final payment to our dealers? Like cut $500 and say: hey, you made me believe she shall arrive by early Sept., now it's late Sept. I've been very generous not to pay you 0.

Once the cars get to the port and are assigned to a specific vessel the dealership is able to find the ship name. Your CA can get the ship name for you.

West coast bound cars have generally come on different ships than east coast cars. K-line shipping has traditionally delivered west coast cars...I tracked my 335 online in 2009.

K-line website shows Three ships leaving Bremerhaven bound for California in the next few weeks...all arriving in L.A. In early to late October.

*sigh*. My production number is quite a bit higher than that one. Hope that is not indicative to how much longer I'll have to wait, especially since my old car sold very quickly and I'm stuck with a rental for now!
