335i BMWPE
Just signed for my X1 35i M-Sport and it's already got Dinan stage 2 and BMS intake, so it's a start, I do plan on doing more mods. The thing I hate the most is the single outlet exhaust, it's blasphemy. I traded my n55 335 xdrive in for this and I was wondering if anyone has retrofitted the 335 BMWPE on this car?
I realize I'll need a modded diffuser but anything else ? |

I plan on cutting my muffler open to do the "PE mod" soon. Already bought the heatwrap and clamps. This should essentially convert the X1 catback into exactly what the PE is, without any fitment issues.
This is the thread I'll be referencing: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=963343 As far as I know, the other PE catbacks won't fit the X1 due to the cross-bracing underneath our cars. |

I've been searching all over for an aftermarket diffuser to fit dual exhaust on here, has anyone found one or have one that has been modded to fit?

No aftermarket diffuser but you can cut the stock msport easily. Tough part is running the right side piping. You can run a narrow pipe but the bends will be restrictive. It's not worth it.. I run a modified 135 Active Autowerke rear section, but any exhaust shop can chop your muffler off and add tips! It helps keep the sleeper look and this car is pretty ugly from the rear so try not attract any further attention to it...haha

Some would think it's blasphemy to take a single exhaust, and split it into a fake "dual" exhaust.

Not that I don't prefer the look...just saying many would claim that wanting to add a larger, heavier muffler just to move an exhaust tip to the other side of the car for appearance is "blasphemy". The lighter, more efficient muffler is blasphemy? That's a strange word for you to apply to a solution that makes more sense, for all reasons sans appearance.

Blasphemy on the appearance side. It looks retarded. I don't care whether it adds an extra 20 pounds to my car, it's about the car not looking retarded with a single outlet.
Again, it is just aesthetics. I can weld it up without issue but I'm not sure I want to cut my diffuser to fit it up. Prick. Last edited by neverdone; 05-23-2016 at 09:07 PM.. |

Oh look, a contrary opinion greeted with an insult. And I even agreed that I, of course, like the looks of te 335/dual setup better.

If you are going to cut up the bumper anyway for aesthetics, why not go all the way and install quad exhaust tips
I'm personally good with the stock black chrome exhaust finishers, and the dual exhaust on one side of the car, but if you mind it that much, go custom and post pics and a vid |

DO NOT do the "PE Mod" on the X1's stock muffler. I cut mine open and was greeted by another shroud completely covering the internal pipes. It is not the same muffler as the 335/135 that can have the pipes wrapped. |

Personally I am OK with the single, it doesn't bother me a bit.
Seeing as this is purely aesthetic, you could just mod the panel and install one of the many fake dual exhaust tips. Get the look without all the hassle and weight. |
