ride harshness and MSport

Yes, ride harshness from M-Sport model is subjective and a part of it is the stiff wall runflats...worse with the optional 19in wheels with next to no sidewall is asking for trouble on bad roads.

Our X1 comrades are correct in that you should drive no line, sport line with 18in wheels and M-Sport with 18 or 19in wheels and see what you like better.

ABSOLUTELY BE SURE THAT THE SALESMAN DOES NOT TAKE YOU ON A PREDESIGNATED ROUTE WHICH WILL BE THE SMOOTHEST OF SURFACES. MAKE THEM GO WHERE YOU WANT TO....AND DRIVE ON MIXED ROADS WITH VARYING SURFACES...IT WILL PERMIT YOU TO GET A FEEL FOR RIDE QUALITY. TAKE NOTES AFTER EACH RIDE AS WELL.

I agree, test drive all configurations on some roads that resemble the roughest of roads you will regularly drive on, and then you will have an idea of the differences.

Thanks for the all the advice. I believe I will probably be going with the MSport option, since the difference between sportline and Msport is only $1000 ($1900 vs $2900 in Canada).

Based on what I read from others. I think my build would be

Msport (for the sport seats and look nicer)
Lighting package (for the xenon lights)
Premium package (for the sunroof)
Technology package (for the nav)

That's pretty much about it... (and unfortunately, thats quite some premium $$$ I have to pay for the addons to have the basics..)

Btw, does msport comes with 18" or 19" wheels? Do i have any options with the Rims?

That's a good build. 18" are standard. 19" are an option. I have the 19" and while the ride is fine, the sidewall is so narrow they are easy to damage. For that reason I wish my didn't have the upgraded wheels (but they do look really sharp).

M-Sport has 19" wheels and the Sport line has 18" wheels.

M Sport's 19" wheels are a $600 option. M Sport has 18" wheels standard.

I guess I will be sticking to 18" in that case.

Did you guys opt in for the leather seats as well or just leatherette is fine?

I have the ultimate package, witch come with the Nevada leather. Coral Red, love it and would not change it. And the option I just love the most is comfort access, could not see getting another BMW without comfort access

Your incorrect. 19" wheels are a $600 option. 18" are standard on the M Sport. Please research.

Looks like 2015 gets an one inch screw. By $600, that sucks

Woah! Dokota leather. That seems a lot nicer. How come we don't offer that in Canada!

Leather is part of a stand alone option, or packaged with Premium for like 950. I have leather. Also, the sport line has the option for sweet 19s, 35i only though. And they're 1000 cdn.

Would you recommend paying extra $600 for the 19s or, should I go with the 18s, then buy another set of 19s after?

The latter. I'm putting non runflat Michelin SS on 19s for the 80% of the year that's dry and moderate/hot, and keeping the stock 18s with AS tires. Two wheel method is more costly, though. I think the leather (Nevada?) sucks. I have the premium pkg., and I would only pay extra for it in the red. Since I bought used, it wasn't an option.

I use my 18's for the winter, then I went aftermarket for my 19's for the summer. The factory wheels are really only good to wrap with winter rubber. I fond them to be pretty ugly, and the offsets are conservative.

What are some good 19s rims/tires for x1?

Any recommendations? And how much do they roughly cost.

You can spend anywhere from $200 per wheel, to $4000 per wheel. Depends on your budget. I recommend getting wheels made in Japan. Bang for your buck, they're making some of the best wheels on the market. I got mine from a company called Work. They seem to be pretty good, although they were pretty expensive. But, I also have 1 off wheels made for the 911 to fit my BMW in a colour not offered to anyone. They even told me at the price I paid, they lost money.

It depends on your budget entirely. I have no clue where in Canada you're located, otherwise I could help you out more with the X1 and aftermarket stuff. My guy here in Calgary sells wheels to people all over North America. He's good, knows his shit, and doesn't screw you on prices.

Buy a car first, then worry about wheels and such after. I would recommend buying with the 18's and using winter rubber on them. 19's are too big for winter rubber really, they don't offer the sidewall flex that the smaller 18 will have which can help smooth the ride in the winter on snow packed roads.
