What's leather and what is not?

With the leather seats option, what parts of the trim are leather and which are plastic?

From what I can work out:
Seats (duh)
Handbrake and gear shift gaiters
Steering wheel
Top of central storage box

But after that I'm not sure in terms of the door trims etc...

And the upper half of the door trims are of leather. Rest is the same plastic material.

Have a look on one of the "build your bmw" sites and change the leather colour whilst looking at the interior views and you'll see what changes on the screen. I'm not sure how much of the seats are leather, but I'm pretty sure it's just the front part you sit on, not the whole wrap around on the seat.

Thanks - so even less than I thought.

I'm concerned that I can't tell the difference between leather and plastic it would seem as well.

Ho hum - kind of hoped for a bit more leather and a bit less plastic, especially on the arm rests and things (seems very cheap of BMW to make those plastic!) but there you go.

Be interesting to see how the two wear side by side over time.

We were considering leather, but after seeing this chart and the fact that there are only three colour choices (black, beige and red/brown), it just didn't make any sense to pay extra for so little. They put leatherette next to leather so e matchup is pretty good.

After testing the x1 with leather seats, I choosed non leather seats. There has to be cooling in the seats if I should choosed leather seats. You just sweat in the non Cooled seats. I took all options, except leather seats and the harder suspension, and I'm still happy about My options

I chose the Sensatec option (not available in all markets) for cost reasons, and don't regret it.

I thought fake leather (leatherette) is more prone to heat and will feel "sticky" if it is hot....

I've got beige Sensatec (or leatherette), and does not seem sticky at all.

I've gone for an MSport pack on my order, but wished I could have had the no cost sensatech. It isn't available once you choose that package though. Considering the little amount of leather that's really present I bet a sensatec car will look better than leather optioned one after a while as the same material is used all through, so should change/fade/wear equally all over. I imagine the sensatech holding up better then the leather and the leather patches looking soft and wrinkled sooner. I wasn't game enough to take the alacantra seats, but in the pics just posted, it looks really good.

My friends all think I have leather, and I didn't make them any wiser The only tell-tale sign would be the smell but nobody's caught on yet.
