I guess my previous post above was somewhat vague regarding the deal, but Jag is subventing their MF to a ridiculous .00001 for a 33/10 sweet spot term. I'm literally paying a $1.54 per month on interest/MF. The residual is also relatively high at 58%. Coupled with dealers motivated to unload remaining stock, especially with the updated '18s arriving, the time to strike is now. I negotiated close to 22% off--as noted above a nicely optioned Honda Accord!! You can effortlessly get $20k off with a simple email, but supply is likely drying up, at least for the coupe Rs. I'm not into verts or think the F-Type in convertible form looks as good. Base models have some even crazier deals, but as previously noted, it's the R/SVR or nothing for me. Check out Edmunds Car Forums for Aug's rates, which I believe are the same from last month:
https://forums.edmunds.com/discussio...estions#latest

And BTW, I did not initiate this Thread ("Got another F-Type R"). I was commenting over on the F8x subforum about the Audi TTRS which I was also interested in, and I guess the moderators wanted to keep that discussion on topic and created this new Thread. Believe me, I'm not one to show off here on a BMW Forum about my new Jaguar--that has troll written all over it!!!

I test drove a F Type S a few months ago that was at a Porsche dealer. I went to drive the new Caymans, but saw it and asked to try it out. It was very nice and I almost bought it on the spot, but decided to cool off a couple days to make sure I was making the right decision. I love the way it drives and the sound is incredible. I can only imagine how the R sounds. I was also looking at Stingrays and it struck me how similar the two cars are from a driving and personality perspective. The Type S got sold, so I kind of reset and then bought a Stingray. Congrats on getting such a wonderful car!

This is a car forum, we talk about cars! I would say most BMW owners here are enthusiasts who can appreciate other marquees.

Apparently you haven't frequented the F8x subforum! j/k
I loved my previous M4 and M3ZCP, and I'm a die hard BMW fan boy, however there is just something special about the F-Type Coupe R.

The F-Type Coupe R is the Euro trash vette! lol

I was this close to pulling the trigger on a Grand Sport last year when I was considering unloading my '16 F-Type, but I ended up back with an M3 ZCP.

$704 base, with no money down, just typical start ups: 1st, acq fee, ttl, $75 NY doc fee, and 9% PA tax on $2k Jag rebate.

Car was new, <50 miles, warranty hadn't been punched, nothing unusual about the options.

I just happened to be extremely lucky with the deal, as this is not the norm!
Car was close to $113k

Outstanding, about the only time a lease has ever sounded like a good deal to me. I think this is just the beginning, I'm hoping to see a huge correction in the auto industry in the next 18-24 months (possibly sooner). Cars are way, way, WAY overpriced and a correction is long overdue. Bring it on I say.

Yep, they both look awesome. Could be distant cousins whose ancestors migrated from the U.K. to Kentucky lol.

Seriously though, seating position, viewpoint, acceleration etc are very similar.

True, but the vette is such a better bargain. And that 7sp manual was just solid, as if the car was built around it!

The Stingrays right now are about the only cars in existence where I don't say "They want HOW MUCH for that?!?". They really are the best deal out there for sure.

depends on what you value

they are fast and look and sound good

but they still lag behind in the finer points like crisp throttle response, a feeling of integration amd precision and refinement

I went from a 2 year old 2014 cayman s to a brand new c7 for a straight swap thinking I was getting the best deal out there....3 days later i wanted my caymam back

as for the type r...comgrats...freakn.fun car....the only recent car i have driven that left me really wanting one...it is only the lack of a manual that is really holding me back...

I must be dumb as a bag of rocks, because I just don't get the whole Cayman thing especially considering it has 4 cylinders now that in my opinion just don't sound all that sexy or awesome anymore. Fit and finish is nice and handles great, but I just don't see paying $75k (once optioned out with modern conveniences) for a base Cayman when I can get a Z06 for that money and actually for a little less. I've driven at least 7-8 Caymans and felt like the 2014-6 Cayman S was the best of the bunch, but didn't speak to me the way the F-Type or Corvette does. I even like my 135is better than the Cayman lol.

we all like different things...the vette didnt speak to me at all...

i chose a z4 coupe over a 135is back in the day even though the is would blow its doors off

variety in tastes keeps things interesting

At 1:59 PM, I had no intention of picking up a Jag. At about 2:00 PM, I saw this post. At 6:45 PM, I signed for an SVR.

Thanks, OP.
