Costco battery for BMW X1
Hello,
I have found that Costco is now selling battery for BMW X1. Have somebody tried to replace BMW battery to non OEM? As I know programming required when you replace BMW the battery? Thank you |

I don't think any programing or radio codes...I have disconnected the battery a couple of times for a week or two, and when re-connected all the electric stuff with the OBD works normal.

The battery must be registered\programming by the dealer or tech because of the charging cycle it will implement.
If it doesn't have this feature you can use any good battery that will fit and has the right amp hours. BMW X1 does have this feature and you don't have the dealer implement this your charging cycle will burn out the battery in short order. You can probably do it, if you have ISTA/P tool and right BMW code. Last edited by MarioTunes; 02-02-2015 at 10:32 AM.. |

Just make sure all the specs are the same on new battery, and capacity because Ive had plenty of customers complaining about sporadic electrical issues and it related back to the incorrect battery installed with lower specs etc.
