As an aside, I needed to get the snap in adapter for my phone type to fit in the bluetooth cradle. BMW was asking a crazy £75 for it, got it on ebay for £10. Have a look, there are loads for sale. People change phones a lot. |

My Shark Fin
I owe it to this thread having given me the answer 'Where is my shark fin.'
It could be I had been mislead by on ordering the new X1 facelift model Sept.2012 and on studying all X1 literature, I believed a shark fin is included. Because every broshure photo showing every X1 with a shot above or at the rear of a car always showed a shark fin in place. It was only when I arrived home I realised there was no shark fin. Having found no mention of it in sales literature, I googled it and found this thread. I could only put it down to clever photographic marketing. Anyway call me vain if you like but for cosmetic reasons only, I paid £114 to have one fitted to my alpine white X1. The cost comprising; The part, preparation, painting, adhesive fixing & labour and as far as I'm concerned worth every penny. For a car costing thousands, to me it was like spoiling the ship for a halfpence of tar because,looks-wise, it has enhanced the car ten fold. No regrets, well satisfied. |

Our X1 has always had crappy radio reception. And I test drove a new 3 series this week that also has the same crappy reception.
Ever since they switched to just the back window wires, the reception has suxed.

The radio antenna is the tiny line printed on either the front/rear windshield. BT antenna should be inside the car somewhere, probably inside the dash or central console. Why should the BT antenna located on the outside when your BT phone is sitting inside the car? Last edited by dchao; 11-08-2012 at 11:37 AM.. |

I actually hated the look so bad on the E93 convertible that I did not order sat radio even though I wanted it. I know on the E93 you only get the shark fin with satellite radio because my E93 has nav. Guess its different for each model

P.S. We got a lot of rain with Sandy a week ago and the amp in the trunk blew due to "water soak". Part itself is close to $1900. So make sure the drain tubes get blown out.
