Hey nagelixin.
I believe it means removal of the "label/badge" of what type of model it is on the front door. I.e. it doesn't have the xDrive 2.0 label/badge (or what ever model you have), so no one can tell what model you have |

DeckerJnr that is a great spec. How much does that lot add up to? And did you manage to get any sort of a deal?
On sound systems: - the standard system distorts if you give it too much welly. The business system takes a lot more. Sounded good to me. Depends what you like. Some rock/pop fans like loads of bass which hugely colours voice sounds. I prefer a more natural sound and the business system seems to give this without excessive volume. |

Just been given a collection date of this Friday!
Will take some picks when I get it home...dealer trying to sell me 'paint protection' - is that as much of a rip-off as it sounds? DJ |

Delivered!
Finally took delivered of the car last weekend...now had a week behind the wheel, so here's my verdict so far: (bear in mind that my previous car for the last 10 yrs has been a 3.2 ltr V6 Merc SLK)
Pros: Looks - car looks great! The vermillion red is deep and smart and the cream interior really sets it off, will post pics when I can. It looks so much better in the flesh than in pics. The metallic is gleaming and the chrome trim and roof runners add a two-tone look, that I really like. Drive - the engine has been an absolute joy. I test drove the 2.0xdrive but ordered the 23xdrive, as I like a bit of power and 0-60mph in 7.3s was too tempting to ignore. This motor is fast! It pulls away at speed and overtakes effortlessly at 50mph too. It is quiet, refined and feels so sporty. The steering is heavy but seems right for the car, the suspension is fine and not as tough as I was fearing. Fuel economy is good too - 304 miles from my first tank (mainly urban driving) Technology - the spec on this car is outstanding. Considering the most modern piece of kit I've ever had on a car was a single-CD radio, the Pro Nav + voice + ipod stuff has blown me away! I've loaded 100's of CD's onto the in car hard drive. My phone synched effortlessly and I can now shout out names in my address book and the car calls them for me! The Sat Nav is easy to use and the Business Edition speaker upgrade is more than enough, the sound is clear and LOUD when needed. The ipod intergraition is impressive, with my entire library and playlists available on screen. The i-drive mouse thingy is simple to use and understand. There is so much more I need to do...synch individual keys for me and the missus, set the memory on the seats etc etc. Cons: There are a few minor gripes - wondering if anyone can advise on these points: Lights - can't believe that a £30k+ motor does not have auto-lights as standard. Turning head-lights on and off should not have to be done manually at this level. Mirrors - paid extra for folding mirrors, yet they don't auto-fold on locking (my mothers 7yr old A-class has this as standard), why not? Can this be added? SatNav - no postcode entry??? My old £99 Garmin from Argos could do this! That's all...will try and get some pics up - should've taken them when it was fresh, now all dusty and road dirty. Will have a clean up and take some then. Best of luck with your new ride!

I doubt it, that's the way they work on our E90. They do open automatically though, when you go over 25 mph.

Hey I did not know that! I wonder if my Mini does it as well, must try it. Seriously, I do think its a small thing that BMW can add quite easily (ie auto fold on lock). I test drove a merc before deciding on the X1 and it was one of the things I really appreciated on it. Our streets are very narrow in places and side mirrors are very expensive to replace.

Mmm..know what you mean. Its a constant argument with us as well. I keep on telling the family to fold the mirrors on the Mini and Golf, but do they...hardly ever . Hence I would love to have them fold by themselves. Maybe we should make a rule that whoever breaks them pays for them, heh heh |

Looks great! Now that I see your light switch, you don't have the position for auto headlights....

Hi DeckerJnr, Congratulations on the car, it looks really good. I love the red more every time I see it. You have a very high spec but I am surprised that your dealer did not mention the Rain Sensor with Auto-headlights which is a £90 option or is part of the Comfort Package at £270 (for the 2.3d). Maybe you should have a word with him and see if they won't fit it retrospectively.

Other visual difference is the 2.3d comes standard with the 318 style rims although these can be easily ordered on the other models. |

REALLY nice- best of luck, I'm very jealous of that great diesel power that we can only get in the X5 which is way too big and expensive for my needs and 335d which is awesome but RWD and still expensive. Hey BMW I want an AWD 4 cyl. diesel sooner rather than what I know will be later Get it done within a year or so and I'll add a second bimmer to the stable that simple. I don't understand- they should be debuting this car in states with the 23 or even 20d getting around 40mpg with awd- I think people would be lining up for them- at least here in the NE anyway.
