Wheel spacer sizes on e84 M Sport?

Hey all,

Anybody running BMS wheel spacers? If so, what sizes are you running? I've got a 2015 M Sport with the oem 18" m rims and 225/45 tires, and an trying to decide what thicknesses for front and back would be best. I'd like an aggressive and flush look, but am worried if I go too far it will look ricey.

Any thoughts? Anybody have any pics? I'll post up some pics showing my inset when I get a chance.

Well, I just pulled the trigger on 15mm for up front, and 20mm for in back. I'll post some before/after pictures once they're on for reference incase anybody else is interested in getting some spacers.

Yeah, let’s see some pics after the spacers are installed.
Is this to move to a taller tire for less harsh ride?
I am tired of the harsh ride in my 2013 X1 Msport and looking for options. Already replaced the runflats with Contis, but it is still harsh.

I went 245x45 pilot sports NRF with 8x18 wheels on my m 35i. My goal was a softer ride. Obviously an improvement over the 19s

There is one spot of rub on the right front when locked. It a bolt that holds that vent. I removed the bolt and used some e6000 rubber epoxy to secure that spot. all is well.

Ride is considerably improved

No, purely cosmetic reasons. I've always thought the wheels looked set in too far from the fenders, kind of making it look top-heavy. I don't mind the ride quality too much.

The spacers have arrived, now I just need to make some time to throw them on. Once I do I'll post the before/after pictures.

Are your 8x18 wheels the 18" m-sport wheels you could get with the X1? I've never looked up the width of my 18" m-sport wheels. Glad you got the rubbing squared away, hopefully the spacers won't give me any rubbing up front when turning.

I run 12mm BMS spacers on front only to make front track as wide as rear.

Now steering is just right firmness with the 14 s28i which has electric steering.

It also stopped the high speed sway.

Car is M sport with 8x18 225/45r18 and 9x18 255/40r18 355m wheels.

You were having some high speed sway, and it was resolved by adding spacers to the front? What kind of speed range would you feel it?

Well, I finally got the spacers installed today, but the kids woke up from nap so no driving or picks yet. Initial impression is that it looks way better. I'll wash off this Minnesota winter salt and get some pics, and post up the before/afters.

I'm also curious to see if it feels any different driving it. I was expecting I wouldn't notice a difference, but after the comments here now I wonder... Hopefully if anything changes it will be positive, or at least neutral.

Bear in mind I have the s28i with electric steering. also, staggered 8x18 and 9x18.

I picked up at Munich, and drove around for 2 weeks.

At approx 1500 miles in Germany, I opened it up to run with the fast guys, and noticed that anything over 100 mph car swayed worst I've ever seen on a car.

When I tried 120mph, a little wind could make it change lanes.

Back home some people said it was aerodynamics doing it on their own car but to me it felt rhythmic.

The front track is about 1.1 inch shorter, and when swaying, I think it would set off the traction control on one side and then, the other.

Spacers up front fixed the too light feel, most of sway, and ceramic less grabby rear brake pads stopped most all sway.

I rode home from dealer in a X5, and every time car tilted (rolled) it would steer that way, and driver would jerk back the other way.

Most cars do this, but my X1 M sport just doesn't roll side to side and I love that.

When I say sway, i mean front of car aims 10-15 degs right and then a second or so later aims 10-15 degs left while steering wheel not moving.

It was on Pirelli P7 summer tires, and it's not that.

Oversteering car allows rear to do that, but my trouble was definitely the front on a straight road.
