Fitment Comparsion

I have a question about wheel fitment.

Stock wheels are 17x7.5 et34
I'm looking at 2 wheels which are as follows:
17x8 et32
17x8.5 et40

When I plug in the #s,

17x8 et32 will have an inner rim which is 4.3mm closer to the suspension strut. The outer rim will poke out 8.3mm more than before.

17x8.5 et40 will have an inner rim which is 18.7mm closer to the suspension strut. The outer rim will poke out 6.7mm more than before.

Do both size fit? or will I have clearance issue?

I think your stock numbers are off a bit. Stock 18s are 18x8 et30. So the first set is nearly identical to stock and will have absolutely no problem.

17X8.5 ET40 will not fit. Too close of the suspension strut.
Min is ET35 with 8.5
Best is 8.5 ET22 which is almost flush with fender.

Not true. I run 10" width in the rear with a 34 offset. That's a full 1" closer to the strut. I could have gone as wide as 11" in the rear on that offset before I'd rub.

OP: The et40 will stick in 6mm more than the stock wheel, plus another 13mm from the wheel width itself. Not ideal, but with spacers you could make it work.

It's the fronts the problem, not the rears. I know in rear we can fit a huge wheel, with 19X9 ET41 I have 25 mm with fender and more than 30mm with strut. But in front, there is almost 25 mm with fender but there is only around 12 mm with strut on 19X8 ET30. So 8.5'' ET40 in front may rub. If squarred setup, the fronts would need spacers.

Still not true. There's tons of room up front on both the inside towards the strut and the outside. Guys are running 9" widths up front with no issues. The OP is using the 8.5 in the rear.
