Trading in my e92 335i
I'm going to a dealership to trade in my 07 e92.... too many problems unfortunately and I'm going to be downgrading to an Evo X. I have fell so in love with the N54 engine and I feel like I'll never find another community like this one. the n54 was my first platform that I actually learned, I'm hoping I'll be able to take some of what I learned to the little turbo i4. It's been real guys, maybe I'll come around and end up just trading up to an M series. I guess we'll see...

Care to elaborate on your problems? A 335i is a better car in terms of reliability and safety than either of those two. STIs don't have enough power and Evo's I have never been a fan of. Save some money, take the car to an indy and start fixing it. A broken 335i will not get you any money on trade, so you should fix it, then sell private party for decent money.

Why not a newer 335i? Or if you're really sick of fixing the car, pick up a 328i?
I'm no expert on N54 but to the best of my knowledge, 2007 (the first model year) was arguably the worst for reliability. 2009 is supposed to be a better N54, and 2011 is the N55, and any model year 328i will be equipped with the relatively well-behaved N52. Why not one of those? The Evo X will be a fun car to drive but has a horrendous interior and a terrible ride. At least the E9X BMW's walk a fine line between performance and luxury. In the Evo? Forget any semblance of luxury, lol.

why not just upgrade to a cpo m235i...you still get the n55 engine and reliability. The CPO m235i's are hitting around 35k now. M235i was the first ever BMW to make it onto consumer reports reliability list.
The evo and sti's are ok, but you'll notice things that you didn't notice in your 335i. You'll notice rattles and cheap plastics that will annoy you after coming from a 335i. My buddy has his m235i for almost 2yrs now and no problems at all. Only a oil change. |
