Road trip over the Sierras in my Mineral Grey X1

So I had the day off, two cameras with fully charged batteries and a full tank in the X1. Time to hit one of my more favorite highways in California, Highway 70, which follows the Feather River through the mountains. It was the Western Pacific Railroads competing route against the Southern Pacific Donner Pass. I used to hit this all the time on my motorbike, but those days are long passed. Enjoy the pics and consider the road if you are ever out this way.

While it is no sport bike, or M series, I flogged the X pretty good, and was more than pleased with how it handled itself., The paddle shifters were fun, and I annihilated the two cars that I passed, so the little 4 proved itself worthy.

Still more spectacular pictures--thanks for posting them.

Your pictures helped sustain me through the long wait for my own mineral gray X1. Now that it's here, your pictures are making me feel guilty that I don't have anything more exciting to offer it than the mostly flat, straight roads of central Indiana!

Can't wait for my Mineral Gray X-line which will be delivered in 4 weeks.

How did yours perform in those mountain roads?

I performed great! The high altitude was no problem thanks to the turbo, and while as I said, it's no sport bike or anything, but for what it is, I don't think there is another small SUV that can come close to the way it handles. I passed a couple of slow cars on the two lane highway with no fear, it just sucked them in and blew past. It was at least as much fun as my GTI in the twisties, but a bit plusher when your just cruising. It rolls along at 80 at a leisurely 2000 R.P.M. or so

The pictures are awesome, you have skills beyond just picking great cars.

May I ask, what camera you used?

Thank you!

The majority of shots were done with my Canon 5d2 and 24-105 lens.
