At a Dead End with my Sunroof

The sun shades in my 2014 XI have deteriorated and were hanging down. I know there has probably been a lot written about this already

I have accessed the TIS maintenance sheets, gone to YouTube, and searched numerous forums. I have read that there are 4 bolts to remove the rear glass panel. But I can not find these anywhere,
I have removed the front glass panel, and the two sliding panels, along with the entire inside roof panel.

Please, some one help me with removing the rear glass panel

I really hope this gets you there. Good luck

I haven't seen these two TIS pages on the website I have been using. After an initial look, it appears that this requires some kind of modification kit, and removing the entire sunroof frame.

Thanks a lot. I have been told by others that the entire frame most be removed, and this looks very scary of a DIYer

I am a highly capable DIYer but I opted to have this repair done by professionsls... Whole headliner has to come down, glass removal, glide parts replaced ( even if not broken, they will break...)

two days, 10 hours labor and parts, cover, etc.

Estimate was $1,800 USD , goin in the end of July

Anytime. * That "special Tool" is a spacer. However, It is difficult to know the "space." I would imagine it is the width of the roof, the width of the panaromic roof, and the difference divided by 2. But yea, spacing the roof would be important to prevent leaks.

If you are able to, get ahold of ISTA+ (this is where this came from), Rheingold, or something similar. You can get an incredible wealth of information from them.

Sorry I don't have more information on this actual procedure, but it seems clear BMW never intended for this to come apart, which is a pity. The sunroof seems like it could mechanically total the car.

My son had a 2003 BMW, which the same thing happened to, now its my 2014. This problem has been happening for a long time and appears to be quite common. Seems to me that a Class Action Suit may be appropriate

I posted a thread on how I eventually repaired my roof. Wish I had figured this out before I took the roof lining out. See post https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=183915
