Nav update question

I just received the 2015 Nav update on USB, does anyone know how long it takes to download into the cars HD?

Garage List
2013 BMW X1  [10.00]
1 USB or 3? I had to use 3. It took a good 10 minutes for the first 2, maybe 5 for the last one to finish.

Mine is a 13. I update x2 years, not every 1.

Took me ~1 hr, for anyone else contemplating the up-grade. I have the USB stick for sale in the classifieds.

Did it work alright and can a 2013 model use the stick to update maps?

As a piece of trivia, the release code for my update is the same as the one that was provided for the original nav system in the car.

BTW, a USB update is available in the For Sale by Member section

Does anybody have any instructions on installing the navigator update from a USB stick? I got it from BMW wit an activation code, but NO instructions? How do I use the activation code?
Thanks...!

Can you share how to install the update, and how to use the activation code? I got the USB from BMW, and it came with the activation code, but no instructions.
Thanks

You should have found a little booklet inside the jewel case they sent you.

Basically, you get in the car, turn it on and insert the USB into the glove box port.
When the system identifies the stick, you can click on "Start Update"
Provide the 20 digit code and click "OK"
When finished it will display "restart the System" and then with the iDrive click "OK"
Remove the stick and use it for whatever you want. It is a 32G USB so it would hold a lot of music.

BTW, DO NOT remove the USB until the update is completed. You can power down the vehicle and the update will resume on the next key cycle.

Your dealer should also have the booklet or, at least the instructions
