Tire size question...

I just got a 2014 X1 sDrive28i with the 19" M-Sport wheels. The stock tire sizes are 225/30-19 in front, and 255/35-19 in the rear. Two questions:

Will there be any rubbing issues if I increase each tire width by 10mm to 235/30 in front and 265/35 in the rear?

Also, what spacers can I run without having to change the wheel bolts?

Chris

Keep in mind that the overall height of the tire is a percentage of the width, so changing the width ALSO changes the height of the tire - IOW, if you want the gearing, clearance (height) and speedometer/odometer will change if you keep the same series, but just increase the width. NOtice that the front and rear are different, but they also are the same OD. To go wider without becoming taller, you need to go to a smaller (shorter) aspect ratio.

No rubbing issues. I think you can get away with a 15mm spacer. Spacers IMO are ghey.

Thank's for the info but I'm pretty knowledgeable on tires in general. I'm just new to the X1. I was more looking for someone who has done this on their X1 to speak from experience on rubbing issues. If I go 10mm wider and keep the same aspect ratio, yes, the tire will be slightly taller and that's fine. It might give these low profile 19" tires a little more cushion. They currently seem under-square, so a wider tire might help them square off a little bit.

To each his own on the spacers I guess. A buddy of mine put spacers on his 530xiT wagon and his 2011 X5 and it looks wonderful. Slightly more aggressive and more of an even look. On the X1 the wheels tuck in a tiny but, spacers would help make this look a little better.

I get the look thing, but I'd rather just put a wider wheel with a different offset on.

True a wider wheel would look better, but in the name of cost savings would spacers not be an effective solution? Also, I love the factory 19" wheels on my M-sport and would hate to get rid of them.
