Right, been a while since I have updated this..
BMW heard no noise relating to the timing chain after numerous tests, they did replace a gearbox mount. The nosie that I can hear is suppousdly normal for around the 50,000 mile mark? Anyway if the noise does get any worse, I have in writing from my finance company that the noise is normal and not to be alarmed. If it does get worse I will be getting it diagnosed my self and going from there. I have sorted out Gap Insurance on the car also which I completely forgot about as I didn't want it from the dealership I bought it from. The car is dirty and been clocking up some miles through the winter. Changed the front wipers and put in my pipercross panel filter. Will be doing another oil change in March before show season doing some motorway journeys. I'm in talk with a couple of people to buy some BC Racing Coilovers for the E84. I was opting for H&R Springs and Bilstein B6 shocks but for the same price I can get adjustable coilovers. I've had the tyres removed from my X5 wheels and they have been acid dipped and my friend at MJR vehicle repairs in Canvey Island is going to be painting them for me. These are going a dark grey. Will be getting my new tyres for these over the next couple of months. The wheels / tyres / suspension will go on early april I'm just going to line the bits up and get them ready. I have had my mate code a couple bits in to the car for me. US ambers running, indicator to flash 5 times rather than 3, flash when lock, digital speedo and a couple other bits and pieces. Will hopefully be getting a half decent clean up in Feb / March as I have some stiicker residue to remove, car itself needs a good clean as the salty roads have taken their toll. Pictures soon. |

Hi GRANTLDN,
Interested to hear about your Adjustable Coilovers re Price, How much drop, Adjustment range, Thanks. My next Project is Suspension and was looking at H&R Springs and replacing my Shocks later to match or getting Coilovers. Similar to your thought process. Look forward to your comments when their installed later. |

They reatail at around £780 or so, got them for £670 incl. That's through a friend who works at M Style in Essex. From what I have read with coilovers, the rears are low even on the highest setting, will see how I get on anyhow. Won't be going on for a while yet, late March / early April. |

Looking forward to pics after it's been dropped!
Also, did you try test fitting with the 255/45/19? I assume that hit fender liner at lock?

I ran 255/35 rears once changed and 15mm spacers no issues. I ran 225/40 fronts once changed and 15mm spacers no issues. When I lower the car I am going to chop / fold the fender lips and they are way too big. Will post a fair few pics of install etc where possible |

Right so finally a time for a bit of an update I guess.. Although not complete after a couple set backs.
Gave the car a clean up at a friends house, nothing amazing, paint still needs correcting but gave the black paint a boost and now the car beads in the rain. Ordered some tyres from Tyre Leader. Ordered Toyo Proxes T1 Sports, but only my 2 fronts have arrived so far. 245/35/19 for the front and I am due 2 275/35/19 for the rear. Picked up my wheels from my friend Jake over at MJR Vehicle Repairs in Canvey Island, Essex who painted the wheels 2K Super Black. Anyway I popped to my mate Beau's house for some coilover fitting none the less. Bunch of photos from the day which took longer as most of his tools were at his work. Bumper Damage from an inconsiderate **** somewhere along the line. So this is how the car sits currently.. I did buy 15mm spacers for the front at 12mm for the rear but the front is scrubbing on the shock slightly so jumping up a size and putting the 15mm spacers on the rear to equal it out. Hopefully my 2 rear tyres turn up as soon as possible and I am currently driving with wheels |

I am also looking to go with the BC,s now. The ones I checked here are V1 Series Street at AUD$1299 and AUD$350 to Install. To many expenses at the moment so probably later in the year. What Series are your BC Coilovers? You mentioned Settings. I was told the opposite, That On Standard they are a bit higher and you can adjust them down/lower to suit your setup? Interested in your comments. Also you mentioned your Rear Tyre,s as 275/35/19. Should that Profile be 30? Wow 245F/275R Lowered with Adjustments is going to look fantastic. Cheers. |

Mine are the BR series.
I'm still doing some adjusting. I now have 20mm spacers up front and my 15mm spacers are going on the rear this weekend. I'm also lowering it a touch especially as the N/S/F sits higher than the O/S/F now it's settled. The rear still has a fair amount to go down but I need to do some cutting of the arch lips and probably some of the liner! Here are a couple photos anyway! Needs a good clean again as there is tyre soap everywhere and it's been raining |

Looks like it,s sitting pretty good, even before your next adjustments.
Did the Rear sit a bit higher when you first put them on? Is your 275 Rear Tyre a 30 Profile? |

The rear was very low from how it was set up on the standard wheels, but it had to be raised about 10-15 notches when the 19's went on. But tomorrow I will drop it again a couple of notches just to see how I get on with the ride. I've not scraped on anything yet and I live in London with a lot of speed humps I want the mix of drive ability and looks. Getting rid of the run flats and adding mid range / decent coilovers has improved the handling very well too. Body roll has disappeared. |

Looks great!
Did you get an alignment yet? Yours seems a little bit lower than H&R so I'd be surprised if you could get camber back in line with factory specs. |

I am having it done while after work. This morning on the way in I had what basically comes down to suspension system failure. Traction control light on permanently, my TPMS lights are on which I am dealing with anyway, brake fluid light is on etc too. I have been told having the tracking completed will fix these lights. I am also having a brake fluid change carried out just to rule that light fault out also. While it's on the ramp I'm hoping to get the gearbox part number so I can find out how much & which oil is needed to do an oil change and filter if necessary. |
