Winter wheels 35i

Hey all,

Quick random question... What is the smallest wheel size that will fit over the 35i brakes? I have not yet taken delivery of the X1 but I am interested in this information for the winter set of wheels. I have read that a 17 will fit but I am not sure if that is true for the 35i.

Thanks for your help!

the 35i comes with a 17 from the factory when ordered with no line. A 17 will fit just fine, just watch the offset, width etc.

We're running 17x8 Style 355M replicas. They fit and look fine. The brakes on the X1s are all the same...28i or 35i.

No they aren't.

Similar to the 328i and 335i, the X1 28i have smaller brakes than the X1 35i.

And the US 28i has smaller brakes than the ROW.

I am very un-impressed with the x28i braking abilities after 5K miles.

As were we after test driving, the 35i brakes just feel like normal BMW brakes, while the 28i brakes feel like a Honda. It was one of the reasons we chose the 35i over the 28i. I know tires help, but I also wonder how much just switching to the ROW rotors and pads would help? If I recall, they're not just larger rotors, but also slightly thicker.

Sorry for the thread derailment.

Quick search on the interwebz shows the Euro E84s using the same 312mmx24mm front rotor as the US spec 28i. Curious to see the sources that show the US spec 28i uses a smaller rotor than the RoW E84s.

According to RealOEM, it looks like they're the same for all 28i's, but they got slightly downsized at the LCI:

X1 28iX - front - 330x24 until 4/12 and then 312x24; rear - 300x20
X1 35iX - front - 348x30; rear - 336x22
