X1 Sport Seat Retrofit

All,

I recently bought an X1. I had a 328i previously which had Sport seats and I really really miss the thigh support. I am not too worried about the side bolsters.

Is there a way I can retrofit the sport seats. If not the entire sport seats, just the thigh support. I was looking at real oem and it does seem to have seat frame. From the diagram, it looks like the entire seat frame is still the same.

Is there a way I can just buy a Thigh Support with a Sand Beige Nevada Leather Cover and pad and somehow fit that onto my seat ?

My first post; I did search and I did not get anything specific regarding this.

Thanks
K

Would be easier and cheaper to check a junk yard for a write off and swap the seats.

Agreed. I am looking out for those. But according to realoem, this doesn't look too expensive. The Carrier Thigh support and accessories is around $75. The upholstery is around $128. If I dont have to change the seat frame, then to me it looks like I can get just the manual thigh support for less than $200. However, I dont think it is this easy otherwise a lot more people would have done it.

I am just trying to find out what am I missing here.

you would need a new lower cushion as well. Also, with the sports seats you get power thorax bolsters, you'd be missing those. It's really the back rest that seems to be the more important piece of the sport seat puzzle, the lower cushion is the same minus the thigh support and the slightly more raised thigh bolsters.

I also find it really hard to believe that the leather upholstery is only $128. Maybe just for the support, but like I stated earlier, the lower cushion is different as well.

I would also like to know the answer to that question - as I would very readily swap in the seats from the E90 328i or F31 328xi wagon or GT.

Did you ever get the answer to this question. I'm starting to see my drivers side seat split on the booster.

I just acquired some m package X1 sport seats to place in my xline X1 (currently with regular "comfort" seats).

Does anyone know if I can do a direct swap? Same electronic connection?

Did they swap in? I'm looking to do the opposite swap.

ZD, they did swap in. Flawlessly. Are you looking for comfort seats to put in? I still have mine and they are in great condition - black nappa leather. I'm willing to sell them to you if the price is right!

I was looking for sport seats...and i need grey. It doesn't look like the e84 came in grey.

I didn't realize they had comfort seats also....are they comfort seats like the F10?

The "comfort" seats are their entry level seats. The only options are those or the sports seats, neither of which come in grey.

Don't sport leather seats come in coloured stitchings? You may get a mis-match setup with the bench seats and door upholstery.

I don't know if you've already had it fixed, but FWIW my dealer replaced my driver's seat upholstery under warranty. Normally parts and labor run $1000 for the replacement.

There are sport line sport seats (with red stitching) and there are m-sport sport seats (completely black). I went with the latter.

Hi LevinBR,

Please I'm about to buy the X1 20D SE, I was looking for a E84 (I don't like the F48) between 2010-2015 for a model M Sport with sunroof, nav and xenon lights.

The price difference it's just double the price for the cheapest M Sport with those optionals ticked. So I'm going for this SE model and just not having the M Sport "outside" look that I don't mind at all, BUT for me (6'5" tall) the inclination of the M Sport seat its a MUST and there's none on the comfort seats.

My question is, if I buy the M Sport Seats they will just be like a Plug&Play? Do I need to check part numbers, specific years or anything that should be a must have on the M sport seats that I want to retrofit?
I'm new with this retrofit process and I spent the last 2 hours trying to find some post with pictures without any luck. Please tell me more details about your process if possible.

Thanks,

M sport seats from an X1 (with msport or sport trim) will fit no problem. It is plug&play. Just make sure your power option is the same (electric to electric OR manual to manual).
