Cars leading up to your X1?
Was wondering what cars X1 owners (or future owners) have owned prior?
All of my cars were purchased new. Never owned a used car. While all the other kids in high school were buying used Chevelle's, Trans Ams, etc (and continually sinking $$ into them), I was boating around in my mother's 1977 Dodge Aspen until I could afford something new. My List: 1984 Ford EXP (first car, looked like a beige frog) 1987 Ford Mustang - white 1991 Ford Ranger XLT - dark brown 1993 Eagle Talon - burgundy 1996 Camaro (first time I got a car all loaded up) - polo green 1999 BMW 323 - sea green/beige leatherette (Finally, the job promotion!) 2001 BMW 325 convertible - sienna red/beige leather 2007 Mecedes C230 Sport- diamond black/black (sucked in the snow) 2011 Audi A4 Quattro - brillant red/tan leather 2013 BMW X1 28xdrive, midnight blue/coral red Last edited by Jim2013X1; 09-25-2012 at 01:07 PM.. |

All cars bought new:
1975? (not great with dates...) Datsun B210. Brown. I was such a new driver when I got this I couldn't work the stick well and barely made it off the dealer lot. In 1981 I got t-boned by a huge Cadillac. Fortunately not at high speed. Walked away with glass in my hair and that's about it. B210 totaled. 1981/2 - Rabbit Cabriolet - A sort of orange/brown. This stayed in the family for years until it fell apart. 1994 - Ford Thunderbird - Dark green. My first auto trans. I meant to keep this more than three years but it started to have transmission trouble and the dealership let me trade it in for... 1997 - Ford Contour SVT. Silver. A real "undercover pocket rocket." Leased. 2000 - Infiniti I30 (35?). Burgundy. Would have kept this longer too but just after 80000 miles the catalytic converter died. Managed to trade it in as I bought - 2006 - Lexus IS250. Metallic Sage (light green). Love this car and am keeping it... 2012 (December?) - BMW sDrive28 X1 - Mineral Grey. |

89 Honda Civic
92 Honda Prelude 96 Ford Explorer - overreaction to the worst snowstorm in 30 years in the DC area 99 328i 02 530i 05 Audi S4 - great car (I think it was the last V8 S4(?)), but it was costing me a fortune in gas 08 Saab 9-3 Aero XWD - bought it new in 2009 for about 60% of sticker when Saab first went into bankruptcy; still a great car, but my dealership has closed and I'm already running into problems getting replacement parts now that Saab has gone out of business 13 X1 |

Hummm .... Memory could let me down on the dates
1990 Honda Civic GL sedan ( Used I was 18 ) 1992 Dodge Colt E hatchback ( Used, I had exploded the civic engine ) 1997 Jeep TJ (Used Wrangler in the US ) V6 4.0l ... gas was cheap then 1999 Toyota Tercel C4 sedan (New ) even with great gas price "then" I was needed something less thirsty thanthe Jeep :-) 2004 Pontiac Vibe ( New ) Really really liked that car. 2012 BMW X1. ( New ) A dream come True at 38 years old I really plan to keep it as long as I can. Sport pkg, panoramic roof It is a really good fit for my needs and the fun to drive factor. Really like the look too. I'm just hoping that it will stay reliable outside the 4 years warranty. I know that BMW are pricy to keep in order ... Time will tell |

Won't have pics of my Mineral Grey until it comes in. Just placed the order Saturday morning. So probably early December?
Beverly Hills BMW only had a Black X1 on the lot. To make my final color choice, I looked at an X3 in Deep Sea Blue and another model in Mineral Grey (some 3 sedan? Not sure). I really like the Deep Sea blue, a classic color, but we wanted black interior which will look a bit better, i think, with the Mineral Grey. Originally I had considered Cashmere Silver but in the end it felt a bit "wimpy." Anxiously waiting for Beverly Hills BMW to give me the first update on the order... |

2002 Chevy S10
2008 Hyundai Accent I really can't afford a new BMW. But I need something new to travel longer distances in. I've historically used my truck, its been super reliable and great to travel in. The accent doesn't have cruise control, so thats out. My S10 is getting on age though with 135,000+ KM's, and making 7000KM trips(Northern BC down to Arizona) with it isn't something I'm ready to risk anymore. So, since BMW's are awesome, but too expensive, my only option is to buy a new truck. Off to chevy.ca I go, and what!!!!? A new compact truck is over $40,000??? WTF. Now the X1 doesn't seem so unrealistic. Trade-in/Sell the accent, buy an X1, and keep the truck. So, thats my plan in the new year! |

My list is below. I traded all of my vehicles for the next and they were all purchased (no lease as I drive too many miles).
1993 Saturn SL2 Sedan - Maroon w/Tan Leather (Used; First Car) 2001 Suzuki Vitara - Blue w/Grey Cloth (New) 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara Limited - Silver w/Charcoal Leather (New; wish I kept this little SUV as it was rare, super sharp, and awesome) 2002 Mercedes-Benz ML 320 - White w/Tan Leather (Used; worst POS I've ever owned and it was my first luxury vehicle; MB is lucky they got my business again after this one!) 2004 Lexus RX 330 - White w/Tan Leather (Used; really liked this SUV) 2008 Lexus IS 250 - White w/Tan Leather (New; One of my favorite vehicles and it was loaded with all options; I miss this car) 2010 Mercedes-Benz GLK 350 - Silver w/Black Leatherette (New; Great little SUV but sucked on gas--only got 22 miles per gallon and that's highway miles; I drive 90 miles a day to and from work combined) 2013 BMW X1 xDrive28i M Sport - Alpine White w/Coral Red Leather (New; this vehicle is a combination of all vehicles past and I'm loving it) Last edited by X1MSPORT; 09-25-2012 at 01:02 PM.. |

Simply jealous, TN and KY have great great new roads! Driving in Northern VA is a nightmare, every driver is like a warrior IMO. No roadside lamps, few reflective lane dividers, lane lines can barely be seen ----- needless to say the horrible rainy night drives.
