Dinantronics Sport compatibility

Hi everyone,

I was poking around Dinan's site and explored the various piggybacks available to our small but mighty X1s. However it seems that there are none for the 35i?
For example the Dinantronic Sport is compatible with n20, n26 and n55. The x35i is n55. What gives?

BTW, anyone used this and have been satisfied? Any issues?

I'm pretty sure the Dinantronics stuff is only for F series cars and newer. Whatever they offer for the E90 N55 335, etc. they offer for the X1.

For the money (and for the added power over the relatively tame Dinan tune), I'd certainly by buying a BMS JB4. If you want a flash tune, you'll have to have the DME benched-flashed first. After that, I'd be going the Android/MHD route for a fraction of the cost of the Dinan tune offerings.

OK thanks. I checked out Burger JB options as well. Are they optimistic in quoting performance increases at the wheels where as Dinan's at the crank?
ie the JB+ and Dinan Sport both increases 4psi and yet JB is quoting 30whp while Dinan is 30chp.
Uhh.... boost is boost right?

I don't have much experience with the JB+, only the JB4.

I haven't read that Burger's dyno reads high, but I'm sure they're taking their best run in ideal conditions. You can see Burger's dyno plots of stock vs. whatever tunes/piggies. Those aren't made up...so even if the dyno reads high, it reads high for the baseline as well.

If you're considering the JB+, honestly, installing/removing the JB4 is easy enough, and the benefits/features are much much more compelling imho. You get all the dash controllable options, along with double the power gain...ability to run different fuels, set boost limits, autotune, etc. Regarding the cost, always wise to consider resale as well.

Regarding crank numbers...without pulling the motor and throwing it on a brake, I don't think you could necessarily get an accurate number at the crank.

Edit:

Here's your answer...straight from Dinan (Dinan numbers are 3 PSI)

Quote:
Both go to +4 PSI i believe. Difference in claims come from Dinan reporting the gains in the Sport + mode of the unit (+3 PSI) versus totally maxed out on Race (+4 PSI). Not everyone may want the drivability associated with +4 PSI on 91 octane so we wanted to report numbers that everyone would get without having any hiccups. Dinan is essentially under reporting.

Ahh.... that makes sense. That's kinda silly of Dinan in this age of marketing measurebating to consumers.
