OMG...my mileage sucks!!!

Well ..when I traded my 135 with a DINAN STG 2 ...I somehow figured getting this x1 would improve my cash outlay at the pumps.I attributed my terrible gas mileage to my tune and sometimes spirited driving.(all city)
Well after my first tank was nearly empty today and when I looked at my trip
I couldn't believe my eyes.....332km's....wtf I know it's all city driving but I took it really easy due to it being cold up here and my 19's.
I'm afraid to do the conversion on this!!
Any other guys experiencing this kind of poor mileage ?
Ciao..lmk

How many km's do you have on the X1 now? My mileage has improved a fair bit from new until now (5700km) as the engine is breaking in.
General around town driving is netting me somewhere in the low to mid 11.x litres/100km, which is pretty damned close to the numbers I got with my 335i.

Yeah, after 4k miles, our X1 35i gets slightly better mileage than our N54 135i. It was really low for the first few thousand miles, same as most of our previous cars.

Not only does a new car have worse mileage until broken in, but a new driver to the car tends to increase the fuel consumption too. It takes a few weeks to get used to the car, and fall into a normal driving pattern.

I never use eco-pro, use paddle shifters to shift down quite a lot, and don't mind g forces, so my mileage is higher than average, I'm sure. Currently it's around 19 mpg, but I expect it to go up as the car and driver breaks in. But it'll still be higher than EPA estimates, due to my driving style.
Can't blame BMW for that, except for making it so tempting.

I also have an X1 35i. It has about 3,100 miles. MPG is about 16.5. I do a number of short trips and city driving. I am hoping it improves a bit as it continues to break in. I must admit though that I did not buy it for the miles per gallon ... I really like this engine!

The next best thing to a naturally aspirated V8, in my opinion.
How it's high torque across almost the entire rpm range makes for fun driving. I wish it was slightly more responsive at really low speeds, but a little turbo lag is pretty much unavoidable.

And yeah, drive it for fun, and it'll drink more.
