lowering spring with B4 replacements?

Has anyone here paired either Eichbach or H&R with Bilstein B4s? I know B6s are a popular choice but I'm curious how B4s, which are OEM replacement fair.

I wouldn't advise it, B4's with lowering springs is a recipe for issues due to the reduced length of travel. Best case scenario you'd have a poor quality ride.

Do you already have replacement B4 shocks? And if not, why wouldn't you get the B8's?

Are B8s even available? I only see B4 and B6 for e84s.

My bad, B8's are not available specifically for the E84. (edit): There is a B12 kit available for the 2WD X1's.

If you could find an adapter sleeve for the front knuckle, you could run the E9X B8's, which would cost you $870 new (as of 2/26/24 from ECS Tuning). This is actually cheaper than the B6's for the E84, which are currently $940 on ECS's website.

To answer your first question, I know a friend who had H&R on his E84 with stock shocks, but it was just a commuter and I don't think he ever pushed it hard. I'm not sure what you use the X1 for, but I wouldn't want to risk busting my shocks or even have a concern about it. Also for the price of lowering springs + the B4 kit, you could just buy BC racing coilovers, which I am leaning towards for my suspension refresh.

This is my second E84, first one I did B4s with stocks springs. My current, I bought last fall with KW V3 set up and E90 camber plates and it's just too rough for the roads where I live. Great on highways but I mainly use this car around town, thus contemplating the switch to Eichbach and B4 or B6.
