Ohhhh Nooooo X1 not coming to states?

Just spoke with local bmw dealer, wishing to get in line for a x1 when they become availible in the states. He tell's me it's not a sure thing that x1's will be comeing over because of doller/euro situation. It's supposed to be decided by end of first quarter if x1's will or will not come here. Hope somebody here can give me some good news as I think the x1 wold be perfect for me.Anybody???

Although it's never a sure thing until it's announced, I posted a few months back that I saw a X1 Xdrive 35i testing in southern California. I doubt BMW would be going through the trouble of testing a new engine option(most likely the 300hp N55) if it weren't coming to the US.

Dont panic dude, my bet is that your trusted BMW dealer is trying to make u buy a 3 series touring now, rather than a possible sale in 3 months or so, did he mentioned an alternative model?

It would seem extremely odd that your dealer would have this information while none of the magazines or countless web pages have it. Plus why would the exchange rate affect only one model? They clearly had the US market in mind for this car for a long time so it would make no sense to pull the plug. I'm not worried.

Agree.
And frankly, I can't fathom BMW introducing a model on the US market that would not sell !
It's very well known that affluent Americans are desperate to look European...

Darn... Vermont is not what it used to be !

Hey, I'm just pullin' your leg here of course... I used to travel a lot in and thru Vermont back in the late 90s, and the sheer number of SAAB 900s driving around was just astounding ... It outnumbered any other import, and probably domestic as well!
Looked like every other car was a SAAB, and everybody and his dog had to have one...

Actually, the top selling luxury brand is Lexus. BMW are snapping at their heels though at second.

No doubt.

When the Japanese luxury brands started to get taken seriously in North America in the early 2000, the food chain went as this :

_ Domestic products.
_ Japanese "regular" brands (Honda, Toyota, Nissan)
_ Japanese "wannabe" luxury brands (Lexus, Infiniti, Acura)
_ Anything European, preferably Swedish or German.

I haven't been monitoring the North American market since I don't live there anymore, but the German Automobile always represented the top of the line in terms of image and status.
The fact that BMW lags behind Lexus in my view would tend to confirm that the trend is still current.

Who, me ?

I am deeply sorry for what GM did to SAAB, actually killing this lovely car manufactuter. I say this as former SAABer, and now I go for BMW for the only reason - SAABs are not available on russian market =) And if they were available - they do not make any alternative to X1

Well, I liked SAABs too, but frankly when you keep the exact same design for 10-years without even a small facelift (think 9-5), and no Diesel engine, what is to be expected ?

It's always about listening to the customer....

It'll be interesting to see if the X1 shows up at the NAIAS in Motown next week.
If so, it's a pretty good indication that the X1 will come here. If not, then we're likely gonna be SOL.

In Spain are not much appreciated, here we have an ill-fated auto culture so people only appreciate bmw, mercs,etc.. but for those of us who really like swedish cars its the heaven because of their huge depreciation in 2-hand market.

I am not considering to sell it or may be for a convertible version..who knows..
