Possible to retrofit the paddle shifters to the M Sport Wheel?

All of the M Sports currently in the United States don't have the paddle shifters. Why the dealers would order the M Sport package and not use paddle shifters, a $120 option, is completely beyond me. It's asinine on a 50k car.

Is it possible to swap out the wheel or retrofit the paddles?

I recently ordered an X1 M Sport and didn't realize that you had to select that option for the paddle shifters either. When you build the vehicle online at BMWUSA, it states that it comes with paddle shifter (but the picture doesn't reflect such). It's actually a free option for the M Sport and the code is 7XA (dealer would input this when ordering). However, I didn't realize this until I reviewed my option sheet when I got home from the dealer later that day. I found the option sheet via the Bimmerpost forums.

Not sure about the retrofit option but wanted to share your pain!

I have asked this question to my rep and awaiting reply. I will soon know for sure this Friday as Ill be hopefully picking her up. Now as my luck has it a DAM hurricane is heading this way and my garage is full of junk LOL hey what part of Tenn r u n? Ill be driving up to Tenn next week.

This is really false advertising by BMW on their website. If I was a customer that had already ordered a car, I would be filing a complaint with BMW NA and having them install the paddleshifters free of charge.

I just checked my VIN information and you have the same steering wheel code that I have, 710. That is without paddle shifters so join the club! My vehicle is not here yet and is not expected to arrive until Mid-September.

The only reason I knew about was when I went to the web site it wouldn't show it and so I checked the order form which showed basically with or without paddle shifters. I agree it's BS and I would be pissed as well. I'd try and get the dealer to install them as suggested but I bet it's not as easy as it sounds.

Well I just got the call its here and can pick it up @ 6:00 but the manager I need to haggle with on price and etc is not in today!! DAM! I am going to the service center and try and look at the car and take a few pics and soon we will know aif it came with paddle shifters!
