Weighing the options of leasing a x1

I am considering selling my e90 to get myself into an x1. Went on a test drive at my local dealer and absolutely fell in love with the car. I asked for a quote on a xdrive28 with the ultimate package, sport line, lighting package, and harmon kardon sound. Dealer came back with an offer that would have me paying about 679 a month on a 3 year 36000 mile lease. If you guys can help me out and give me an idea of some of the deals that you guys got that would be really helpful. Thank you in advance.

Was this the Roseville dealer or the one in Sacramento? I'm waiting to test drive a -28- (4 cylinder) and Roseville did not have one on hand.

That does seem high, at least when they're offering $399/mo deals on 328i F30's, albeit with less content. Did they give you the residual amount and interest rate? Using a fairly soft 54% and 3.9% rate with only taxes paid, I come up with $610/mo and I'd have to think you could do better than that.

Seems high even if it were zero down and tax included. Your build should be about $44k MSRP right? The current lease special is $419/mo, 36mo, 10k miles per year, $2500 down on a $38,195 vehicle. I don't know how you add $260/mo (+62%!!!) to that.

You need to get a lot more details on that lease offer and unless you had a great experience with that dealer or have no other options, I'd try a different dealer.

The current money factor is supposed to be 0.00145 (3.48%) with residual 59% (at 12k mi/yr).

Thanks guys I appreciate your input. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to look into all the details about the offer. I was just there to get an idea of the car. There is no question that I am going to have to shop all over town to get the best deal I can. I am hoping to shoot for a monthly under 500 with no down payment. I hope that this is possible even with the options.

Look for a money factor of .00160 and iirc residual is 59% for 3yr; I was looking at almost this identical spec (~45k msrp, right?), and calculated my lease payments at $560/month for 3yr/12k with ~3100 driveoff. At least one dealer in the bay area will do that MF.

Seems high to me. 700 a month on a <$45k car? Hopefully thats at least 0 down but still seems high. Someone else here recently posted their lease deal, it was in the 6's with 0 down but as I recall was a 35i.

Considering leasing because it's a first year model in the US. First year cars from all manufacturers are notorious for having issues. What do you guys think?

They've been selling the car in Canada for a couple of years, does that make a difference?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

I am not worried about it being a first year car in the US because they have been selling them in Europe since the 2009 model year. That is four years of working the bugs out.

Reference lease quote from a SoCal dealer:

X1 xDrive 35i

MSRP: 48,945
Selling Price: 46,270
Cap Reduction: 750 (Customer Loyalty)
36 mos/12kmiles year
Residual: 61% (xDrive35i has a higher residual than the xDrive28i)
Money Factor .00145 (1.45)
Mo Paymt not including tax: 571.43

I think I have one quote with a different config that's a little better.

Hope this helps

This seems like an excellent deal. Ive been fighting with my SA over a deal similar to this. My car arrives Friday so I hope I can get it.
