Just ordered a 2013 X1 xDrive28i M Sport

Hello ladies & gentlemen,

I've been looking around the X1 forum for a few weeks now & have decided to order one last weekend. It won't be here until sometime in December (around the 10th, per sales manager), my wife is excited since it is a replacement of her Mercedes-Benz c class (now totaled! Unfortunately, I was the driver, it happened 2 weeks ago)!!!

Here's the specs:

13XB X1 xDrive28i
B39 Mineral Grey Metallic
LUSW Black 'Nevada' Leather
ZMM M Sport Line
ZDA Driver Assistance Package
ZLP Lighting Package
ZMV Ultimate Package
ZPP Premium Package
ZTP Technology Package
337 M Sport Package
7XA M Sport Leather Steering Wheel with Paddle Shifters
7KB Navigation, BMW Assist w/enhanced BT & USB
494 Heated Seats
4U2 ECO PRO Mode?
688 Harman Kardon
+ 6AA, 6AB, 6NF, 6VC, 8S4

I have seen a few photos of a new white M Sport with 19", but never the 18". I ordered the 18" due to concern of potholes... but I have to say the 19" looked really nice. Should I just change to 19 instead? I also have the 18" on my 2008 E92 M3 for the same reason. Anyway, we look forward to our December delivery of our new X1.

Dublin, Ohio? 18", no doubt.
Dublin, California or Dublin, Georgia? Either 18" or 19" should work, unless you go to the mountains, in which case 19" is out, and you might want winter wheels + tires anyhow.
Dublin, Ireland? 17" and 25d.

Bay Area roads are full of potholes! It's not because of the weather but because the state/counties/cities are too broke to keep them in good shape (though it feels like it has improved a tiny bit over the last couple of years). I live in the Bay Area as well and went with the 18s for the same concern. Though the car does look better with 19s.

Don't forget to actually specify the paddled on top of the M package if you actually do want them. Otherwise almost the same spec as ours: you will like it, it's a very nice car to drive. And the M package's sport suspension did still have a very good ride (at least IMHO but then again I don't like floaty suspensions).

2013 BMX X3 28i  [0.00]
Congratulations!

Sales guy told me that the M Sport now comes with Standard All Seasons instead of Summer tires. If you're in Dublin, Ohio that's a good thing. It was a $600 add on for the switch.

I'm in New Jersey

I think the 19's look a lot better and make the truck look a lot more aggressive.

I actually like the M Sport 18" wheels better than the 19"'s, too many groves to clean on the 19"s. I had such a bad experience with 2007 X3 with 19" M sports because of ride quality that there was no way I would order that combo on SUV again. It had a brutal ride that would rattle your teeth.

Thanks, I did spec it with the following (on the actual print out that the dealership gave me): 7XA M Sport Leather Steering Wheel with Paddle Shifters

As I understand it, the suspension and shock absorbers is one thing that has been rectified on the newer X3s - even Top Gear complained about that. Correcting that, combined with a longer wheel base has made the new X3 a quite different drive from the old one.

Personally, I prefer hard and quick suspensions, oversized shocks, and soft wheels. I hate careening feather rides like in a Citroen - I get sea sick.
But I know I'm in a minority.
