Paging Canadians - Did BMW Canada increase prices

I'm getting close to the point where I'll upgrade my winter vehicle (2010 Subaru Forester) for a X1 (my sister needs my Subby).
I had checked prices several months ago and the base X1 MSRP at the time was $38.5K.
I just checked today and the MSRP on the base X1 is now $41.3K, almost $3K more!!!!!
WTF, did the value of our dollar go down overnight while I was asleep?
I don't see any additional std features so it's not like you're getting more for the price increase - so what gives?

Price is same

Not to worry. The price is same as before. BMW just added all the normally required additions like freight and air tax on the base price.

O.K., thanks. Good to know.
I didn't realize that those req'd extras amounted to $2,800.

carnut, you should come in to test drive the X1. Are you downtown or midtown? We have two locations; Parkview BMW at Leslie and Eglington (416.444.4269) and BMW Toronto at Broadview and the DVP (416.623.4269).

Give us a call, we can help you out.

Cheers,

I wouldn't bother checking out the BMW X1 until they fix the squeaking brakes. Six months and still no fix.

I'm in the east end, but I will come in for a test drive when my sister is ready to pull the trigger on my Subby.

Jeebus..
I just read the thread on squeaking X1 brakes. I sure don't need that kind of aggravation on a $45K vehicle. My Subby is rocK solid and don't have much of a desire to spend big $$$ to upgrade to something that's going to be a problem.
BTW, I noticed that the majority of postings on this problem are from Canadians.
Is this mainly a Canadian problem?
Did we end up with some special edition X1?

Yes, it seems to be a Canadian-only problem. Which is why it isn't getting the attention from BMW Germany.

We got the new 2.8 turbo four engine last year and no one else did. But guess what, that will be the same configuration that gets shipped to the U.S. then wait til the poop hits the blades!
