Fuel cap flap

Anyone having trouble with theirs? Mine often refuses to open and I have to use the manual release inside the boot. Been in to dealer once already but want to see if anyone else has experienced this before going back again.

No, mine has been fine. It's not that you have not unlocked all of the doors? Sorry dumb question but I do it from time to time.

Fine here, as long as the car is indeed unlocked.

Yup. I do sometimes forget to close it after fueling (as the attendant does it for me) resulting in me having a minor panic the next day realizing the flap was not closed. To my delight, I realized it's not possible to close (or open) when your doors are locked.

There's a possibility to change the option on your on-board computer allowing you to select if you'd like the driver's door and fuel flap to be opened when you press once on your remote control or to have all doors (including the boot) to be opened once you press the remote.

I find having only the driver's door and fuel flap safer.

Good point, forgot about that.

Here's another scenario that can happen:

When you pull away the car locks itself. Stop at the filling station, take the key out of the ignition and open the drivers door. At that point only the drivers door unlocks. Walk to the filler cap and its still locked! I have done this many times. I now make a habit of pressing the unlock button on the dash when I fill up.

Hey Ian

Had exactly the same problem on ours.

I solved it by spraying a little silicon spray lubricant on the locking pin and the slot which it goes into when locked.

Problem solved!

Hi Ian,

I had the same problem with the filler cap which surfaced after using the first ever tank of fuel! The dealer does seem to have resolved it on the first attempt though (which was back in November).

Cheers
Terry

I had the same problem.
Since day 1 i noticed some noise from the fuel flap cap when i lock or unlock the x1. After a few fuelings it didn't open at all.
I took it to the dealer and until now the problem is solved.

Got mine set not to autolock and only open the drivers door and fuel flap. The locking pins just doesn't withdraw far enough some times. Will keep it well lubricated to see if it makes any difference.
