13140 Curt Hitch
Just finished installing the hitch on our X1 and I agree with Xess about removing the right side covers. I couldn't get the hitch up in there without removing them. I also had to use 6 washers on each stud on the drivers side flange, it is deeper than the passenger's side flange. So after 2 trips to the hardware store, one to get more washers and second to get shorter 18mm socket, I'm done 2 1/2 hours later. I used a small box wrench and channel locks to pop the rivets in place.

i installed the Curt Hitch today. Very straight forward but a word of warning. it is NEARLY impossible to reach the upper nuts once the hitch is in. Not sure what kind of tool would be best here but even if you get a tool on the upper nuts you are left with about 1/2" of room to turn it. also, through my skill set i broke the hose that connects to the valve at the tail pipe. i was worried that will cause damage to car but apparently people just remove that hose anyway. so the hitch is on and seems pretty sweet. hoping to put my versa haul rack and KTM 200 XCW on it for some adventures

A couple of you have had the Curt Hitch for a month or more. How is it holding up? Do you feel that there are any improvements that could be made to the setup? How about overall appearance? Do you think it blends in will and is not too noticeable? Does it stick out very far from the bottom of the car?

I installed my Curt hitch tonight. About two hours. I had extra washers on hand since that seems to be an issue, and it was. I did not have to take off the side piece/full bumper cover but I did take off all of the plastic "skid" plates. We will see if I got all of the nuts tight enough when I start pulling my utility trailer.

I will be finishing my install tomorrow due to having to get more washers for the A-Frame support. It appears that my a-frame mounting point is different and requires more spacers than the two included with the kit. I contacted Curt MFG and the engineers said washers would be fine to use as spacers without a problem. This was the first they had seen this issue on the a-frame so here is another heads up. My x1 was built in february of this year and has the premium package as required.
