- Pre-LCI X1s in Canada have hydraulics
- rear leg room is slightly roomier

I like the X1 but can anyone tell if the angle eyes are white like new F10 and F30 or they are yellowy like the E90? Lux will be very happy if they are yellow!! LOL

looks yellow to me. makes sense since almost all underpinnings about the X1 revolve around the e90, likely similar wiring harness too among other stuff.

The front bumper is slightly different (the bottom lip has a different design , plus two silver lines on sides), I like the mirrors which are smaller with turn signal. The rear bumper however, is trying to hide more of the big ugly exhaust but it looks worse than the actual model...
Why they don't try to come up with adifferent mufler similar with the diesel one?

Guys, it's in the press release... LEDs:

Meanwhile, an LED accent light – included as part of the optional xenon light package, complete with LED light rings for the daytime driving lights – provides the classic BMW focused look.

thx so much for the pics

pros: exterior styling, what appears to be a sports auto 8at, side view mirrors, integrated cargo cover a la Q5, that orange/black stitching in the seats

cons: no paddle shifters?, those crappy cinturato all season tires, non-LED corona rings, limited console space, not digging the black body molding esp in the front

Hopefully an m-sport pkg can take care of the body trim and the wheel/tires. Quick question south, does the vehicle feel "cheap" in person regarding material and build quality?

I will seriously have to consider this, given no F31 or F20 with the n55 will be available in the states. So far, I like.

I think they will still offer the padle shifters with the Sport Package.

I personally like the interior, however it is more "business like". No, it doesn't feel cheap.

To all those bellyaching about the 8AT:

Drive it.

We could have just as easily bought the 328XI Touring in a 6MT. We didn't. No regrets. The 8AT is a great torque converter transmission.

I'm a motorsport competitor, so I'm all about a 6MT, but it is not missed driving this car. For anyone with a commute this is a blessing instead of a sacrifices. 200ms shifts in sport mode. This car is much quicker than it claims it is.

It's also not big. You THINK it's big, because it's styling is based on the X-series vehicles, but it's just a slightly elevated touring. Most other 5 doors I'm parked next to are within an inch or two and even that would be difficult to determine if the X1 didn't have it's roof rails.

People think the car makes no sense.. but considering how physically large mid-sized sedans (and even "compacts") are these days but yet small on the inside (so many cars I've test drove lately for my new car (x1 is the wife's) at 6' my head is touching the roof. I would be perfectly happy if this were my car. Performance when you can use it, utility when you need it and good fuel economy if you can tame your right foot. Who on a budget isn't looking for that?

  • Paddle shifters are typically only available on xDrive 35i models
  • Tires can be replaced
  • The LCI X1 has LED coronas. It's even in the press release, and press photos. The show-floor photos obviously have a problem with white balance.
  • Black body side moldings are common in SUVs in the size/price segment, see Honda CR-V.

I don't think that's the problem with white balance...it's not LED

So you are doubting the press release, logic, and people who are at the show?

Those are LED's 100%, it clearly shows in photos + press release.
Both versions get new 8AT, most likely all other engines in Europe as well, currently in Europe 8AT is on 28i and 20i so I think 18d, 18i, 20d, 25d, 25i will get that update too with LCI. There are some rumors around with 16d and 16i version but we will see. Its also obvious from photos that it shows 8AT.

Unfortunately no LED's on blinkers front/rear or on braking led lights . Maybe on refresh of X1.

The 28i models get the 8 speed auto, but the xdrive35i gets 6 speed auto.

New F30 doesn't have LED brake lights either. Next "refresh" will be an all-new X1

I still for the life of me do not understand that move- only logic I have is to keep separation from X3 and MPG from the 28i.

Makes no sense otherwise unless the packaging change for the LCI (changed the angle of the right leg) impacted the space needed for the 8HP.

The 8HP is not that much more per unit at this time than the 6HPTu.

They probably did it to keep costs down.

Is the 8HP in the F30 328i and 335i the exact same? Or is there a slight difference due to more torque handling?

Didn't see that the 35i was getting the six speed, the X3 35i has the 8 speed, so why not the X1?

BMW is going to sell A LOT of these here. Especially at $31k. I still can't get over it is the cost of a 128i, but you get so much more car. Round of applause for BMW on this one.

[*]paddle shifters are available in Canada on X1 28i with Sport Package[*]Tires can be replaced but with what? The selection on staggered tires is absolutely minimal. Plus they are only summer performance tires, no manufacturer offers a run flat for this car in all season not to mention ultra performance all season.

that makes absolutely no sense - count me OUT if the 35i doesn't have the 8at. The 8at is so much better than the 6at.

It looks great EXCEPT the ugly ass exhaust, we had the X1 Canada over a year ago, and I'm sorry the muffler ruins the look on the NA versions. (I believe diesel version have a different setup)
Notice how they don't show it in the official pictures....
Or avoid direct back views of the X1....
Plus for the price difference you are better off with X3 or 328Touring
