2015 X1 35i Not Offered?

I have a 2013 X1 35i and my lease is coming due soon and I have to make a decision to buy, turn in and walk away, or order/get a new one. I have now had it for 2 1/2 years and only have 15,000 miles on my car. It's been a good car, no problems. I was on the bwmusa web site and see the 35i is not even offered for 2015. Does anyone know if this is true why it would not be offered anymore? I know I can call my dealer but they just want me to turn mine in and get a new 2015 model. This is my first BMW and if I buy mine at the end of the lease it might hold it's value being a 35i. Any helpful advice would be much appreciated. Thank you

The x135 was offered. I believe I read they are ramping down production as the E84 is end of life and they begin to switch to the F48 killing off the 6cyl first. It's pretty common to simplify offerings as production switches platforms.

I've had mine for 26 months and have 10k miles. Its been great and all but when this lease is up, I'm returning and not looking back.

The practical sense of "returning and not looking back" that Danielj mentioned also has the supporting data to do just that. The X1 has been BMW's poorest North American performer. On the monthly sales spreadsheets BMW releases, I'm surprised they are continuing with the X1 at all... it's depressing to see just how few they sell and to see the quantities being used as loaners at the lots here in Southern California because they aren't selling. When you get a premium/sport/tech pack xdrive35i as a loaner, something's not right (but very enjoyable!).

The 36 mo 30k residual on a $40k X1 was around ~$21.5, but 1.5-2 year old 38-40k msrp X1's are available elite CPO listed in the $25k range. Just saw one with 10k miles and 12 months since purchase for 26,9, and it was a $39600 MSRP X1. Ouch! If it's sitting on a lot at $26,9, imagine two years from now. That'll be a sub-20k car at lease turn in, but look at your residual. It was likely .55 on a 10k/annual... but it won't have anything near that after 36 months with 30k miles. Moral of the story: You'd be financially best/better off to turn the lease in for a different BMW.

Don't get me wrong. We really like our X1, but we also spent about $3500 within weeks of buying it to satisfy a bad case of buyer remorse. When I see stock X1's, I have to admit how weak looking they really are. Not surprised that they aren't selling well but I am hopeful that the update will make the X1 a better all-rounder in the compelling aesthetics department.

Whatever you choose to do, you'll be able to get an insane deal on an X135i if that's really what you want.

Sometimes i think the US and Canada are different planets, those prices are insane. A loaded X1 here is a solid $53K.

The 35 isn't offered in any other country so it makes sense that it would get the ax first.

New or used? In the US a new x1 fully equipped was over $50K USD. The point of the other poster was once used, the prices plummet - at least here in the US.

New, but yeah the used prices don't drop like that. A near three year old X1 with 20,000KM like the OP will still fetch well over $30K.

Yep, I paid on the north side of 50k for mine. Which I don't think was bad at all for such a sporty car.

Today, I might have gone for a Porsche Macan instead, but it's too new to say how the winter handling is, which is important when living in New England. The X1 was already known to be a good car for snowy conditions.

Hi, I recently purchase a X1 2015 and there is definitely a M version at least here in Italy.

The question wasn't whether there was an M-sport version, but a 35i, i.e. the bigger straight six engine (and fatter brakes).

We leased our 35i after having had lots of warranty issues with our previous 135i. Our lease is up in August and it looks like our residual price will be about $4k under trade in value. So we'll likely buy it and wait for the 4GC to get the B series motors or just trade it on a Macan. Seems BMW was a little pessimistic about the residuals at least for the 35i.

I just picked up my 2015 Xdrive35i M-sport about a month and a half ago. It was the only one on the dealer lot, and they only had about six X1's total, most being 28i's. I'm sure they will be tough to find, and it is unfortunate how unpopular they are here in the US.

The Canadian site lists the 35i, but there's some weird stuff going on. The 3 series is no longer offered with a manual I think that might be the case until the 340 rolls out. There were some other changes to model line ups, but I forget them now.

I think I should have bought a 335i a few months back lol

No manual options, no rear wheel drive options, soft suspensions, softer and less supportive seats, and cars made for high speed cruising instead of cornering and active driving - I think I can see where BMW is going, and I don't particularly like it. But the market is bigger, I'm sure.

I thought I'd got a deal when I bought my 35i about 7 months ago. 6k miles, dealer owned CPO for 32/with prem. pkg.,lighting pkg, cold weather pkg. After I bought I found a couple of M pkg with ultimate, too, for about the same price, but with 10k miles. Used X1s are not holding their values well in my area.

Similar deal. Loaded MSport 35, 5k miles, CPO for $36k...someone took a five figure bath in less than a year. I'm sure I will too...but such is life.

I tend to keep my cars for a very long time, so the depreciation doesn't really matter that much. But the repair costs might go up - if it will be harder to get parts because the series is dropped, and everything has to come from Germany (where they by law have to stock parts for a long time), it will be expensive.

As for why there are so many used M-Sport cars in the lots, I ascribe to many of my fellow Americans, who can't fit between the wings of the sports seats even adjusted to the widest, and thinks the steering and suspension is too hard. Well, yes, a hard suspension goes with the "M-Sport". I wouldn't want it any other way. On the twisty hilly frost heaved roads here, I can easily do twice the speed of most other cars. If high speed highway cruising is what you want, get the X-line.

Why is it unfortunate? As they only make the 35 in the US and they hardly sell any you have a very rare car. I would think that is a good thing.

Is it really necessary to insult other because they don't like the same thing as you?

I had to rule out sport seat equipped X1 because I'm tall, and my neck is fused from C2-T2. It's very difficult to enter the driver's side with higher seat bolsters. Also, with standard runflats, I can't imagine the ride being even worse! My new wheel/tire combo should be on this week. No more runflats.

I think its a little different here in Canada.

I rarely see a m-sport X1. Most are just xline x28i and driven by housewives as a grocery getter.

I was searching dealer's inventory and most are x28i also. I guess x35 are just too expensive overall.

Used X1 here in Canada seems to hold up pretty well.

Take a look at this for example:
