BMW iPad Integration
Hey. I have a BMW X1 but it has no i-drive as it's a lower model . Unfortunately it comes without a screen . I want a screen in my car .
I am thinking of installing an iPad in the car . But I dont know how to do it neatly . Any holders that look neat and do not spoil interior ? |

OP suggest you ignore the post above.... he clearly hasnt read yours!
That thread is about iPhone and iPod. For iPad there is a mount for use by rear seat passengers but that is it. |

Samarth, do you mean in the front, or for rear passengers? I couldnt possibly imagine an ipad sitting around the dashboard...
But as redbaron wrote, there are a few threads here of integrating iphones, and GPS inside the top storage compartment. Some are quite impressive. |

I think an iPad up front would be cool but not sure where it will go... mine lives between seat and transmission tunnel and is just plugged in the usb/aux the normal way.

I use the car alone and 364 days without anyone on the rear seat so i find it pointless to install it on the front seat headrest. I am trying to put it somewhere such that I can use it to change the music at least on signals while driving alone

There're replacement kits available . but they take out your dashboard and put a modified one . Surely it looks classy but when it will go for repairs the dealer will surely raise his voice

The Alpine screen is really nice, it is really bright and has an ambient light sensor so dims depending on how bright the car is.
Along with an ipod video cable and mirroring it could be a good choice. Have a look at this... They say it is a couple of weeks away, but certainly could make it a nice solution. I have PM'd Ecoveon and asked him to measure the iphone station trim to see if the Alpine will fit in there.... |
