17" OEM Wheels on the E84

Hi guys, I'm looking to downsize the wheels on my 14 35i with M Package from the 19" 225m to a 17" wheel. I know the front brakes can cause clearance issues with some wheels so I'd like input from other 35i owners that've mounted 17" wheels.

Please post your 17" wheels with specs, OEM or otherwise. Pictures are always worth 1000 words. Thanks!

35i came with 18" or 19" rims because the brakes are fairly large. Most stock wheels have a ET30 + or -. The brakes sit pretty deep inside the barrel of the wheel. Even the rear brake is larger than the front brake on the 4. Are you looking for more sidewall or lowering it more? Look on the X1 picture /video/ media section , go to the " Official tire " thread and see MR JACK's 35 on 17s.

I want more sidewall. I did see his car on 17" APEX wheels but I'm considering OEM BMW wheels before I buy a new aftermarket set. I spec'd out a set of TireRack's C4 wheels which should fit according to their site.

Best bet is to search the E90 forums. I'm sure there are a lot of 17" wheel threads, especially when it comes to snow setups.

Same brakes on a 335.

A good source is http://www.bmwstylewheels.com you can check the 17" made for the X1 http://www.bmwstylewheels.com/X/X1-E84 (ET34) and then check other wheels.

FWIW we have done 18" wheels for summer and winter.

Thanks guys. I figured it would be the same as the 335i but wasn't sure.
BeEmVe, I was more concerned with the brake caliper clearance.

I'm curious, did you ever find out if this would work?

I think apex is the only rim that will fit with the brake calipers.

Thanks! I was thinking about putting a set of Style 393 Wheels on it, but now I really don't think that they will fit.

My 17" Winter setup on my 35i. The brakes are *so* close. :-)

Sport Edition P4 17x7.5" 32mm offset with 225/50/17 Tires. Same diameter as stock.

No, there are a lot. They're 335 brakes. Many people running many, many 17s as their snow setups.
