X1 - Dirt film on white eyebrow

Hi all, my wife just got an X1. I spent all weekend detailing it but have one final issue to sort out. There is a dirt film between the eyebrow and light cover. It's a sealed unit so not sure how dirt could have got there unless perhaps its condensation. Anyone seen anything like this?

Edit, other than the headlight it polished up quite well for a 6 year old car.

Weird. I don't have this particular issue, but I do have some pitting / dust INSIDE the headlight too. There's condensation trap I think, so probably not 100% sealed.

Hi

I've got these marks on mine. Probably appeared 3 years into ownership. Not sure how to fix it now (as out of warranty) and I don't really want to break into the units to clean them.

There was an old trick on previous Subarus I've owned where you can heat up the units in an oven so as to make the selant pliable. You could then pull the units apart and gain access to the inside. It was mainly done to remove an orange reflector. You then reseal the units using a very good automotive sealant.

These lights use perma seal. The sealant meltpoint is the same as the plasic around it. So, not an option.

You could just install eyelids that fits over. Did it on my X1, looks very sharp.

So I ordered the eyebrows from Ebmotor and they arrived yesterday, around a month after ordering, which not bad considering they were painted and delivered from China. They were really well packaged and the quality of the eyebrows was very good. The fit however was not. The eyebrows came with pre-applied double sided tape but (despite correctly prepping) it was not strong enough to give a good bond so I removed and replaced with a good quality double sided tape. Despite this it was still not possible to deform the eyebrow to get it fit and stick at the same time.

Overall the fit was not too bad, but it could have been a lot better. A real shame as otherwise it was a really well made product. Despite the less than perfect fit it's still much better than dirty eyebrows.

Try using a heat gun on the plastic - that should soften it a bit and allow it to deform just enough.
