2700 KM trip to NJ

Hi everybody, the family have just completed a great 2700 km trip from Quebec to New Jersey. This car is awsome. I didn't reset the mileage calculator for the entire trip and got an average of 8.1 litres/100 km with four people on bord and the cargo area loaded at capacity.

Never lack any power at all in the Adirondack montains or passing on the Garden State parkway ... I've passed the 12 000 km mark during the trip.

Reliability is perfect since taking possession of the car last year ( october 2011 ). except a single recall for a bolt near the timing chain.

So, enjoy your ride !

Mine is a 28i xdrive with the N20 engine ( 4 cyl. )

Nice, so just cleared 29mpg for us yanks. Was the 8.1 hand calculated or just the car's account of its consumption?

This was the car computer result. In the beginning I was always calculating manually against the computer but each time it was on target with the computer, so I don't do it anymore now that I know I can trust the software.

8.1 litres/100 is about 29.2 mpg, very good gas mileage for a small SUV. Are the two persons sitting rear seat adults or children? How do they feel about rear seat space and comfortability for a long ride.

The rear passengers are children. 9 and 6 years old. My youngest is still using a "booster" so she can't give me a good review of the backseat.

My son isn't complaining at all. He really likes the panoramic sunroof and what he calls candidly "his sport seat". He is sure the "sport pkg option" is including rear sport seats ... I didn't have the courage yet to tell him that the backseats aren't different even with the sport pkg.

So, he is really enjoying the ride to date. Maybe it's because he is growing but with my last ride ( pontiac Vibe ) he was always complaining about some pain in the legs during long ride.

Some colleagues have enjoyed short ride and they all have praised the quality of the seats and the legroom. I'm not really tall, I must confess though.
