Any experiences of driving x1 in snow?
Hi
Thinking about getting an x1 xdrive but as we already have a bmw in the family was wondering if the x1 was any better in the snow than my 1 series coupe or my old 3 series coupe? Thanks Missy |

In 4x4 (XDrive) form, significantly better (and safer in the wet), in the 2x4 (SDrive) version you will have better ground clearance for deep snow but pretty much the same performance as the 1 or 3 series. Any car will of course benefit a lot from winter tyres, and its a huge difference. I drove a 325i on winter tyres through really rough stuff on a holiday around Lake Tahoe last winter and for the odd occasion where we used snow cables it performed perfectly. Did not get stuck once. I only got my X1 a few weeks ago but plan to use it up north in the Highlands regularly this winter so will give everyone a heads up on how it performed. Here's a video of the X1 driving in the snow:
If you want the best perfomance (and safety) on snow and slippery roads you should choose the X1 with xDrive. The sDrive version will be as good as your other BMWs, or a bit better, because of its bigger ground clearance. |

We are going on wintertraining with our 2,0 Xdrive next month, i really look forward to going sideways with all four wheels spinning.
I report back how it went. But Xdrive is the safe choice, specialy if you meet rough wether.
