I briefly considered the red, but the dealer did tell me that it hurts resale value down the road. That was enough for me to not get it as I didn't love it that much.

I went for x-line for one reason only: It was the cheapest path to the light-colored oyster leather interior, which wanted to keep heat down in the summer. In my old car with a black interior, I got tired of burning my buttocks off every time I got I got in the car.

The Msport looks so much better in my opinion especially with the 19" wheels.

(except for the part that BMW charges us for the ability to spec oyster interior!)

one09jason, how is the oyster leather holding up? has it stained or gotten dirty at all?

K, I got a test drive in over the weekend and wanted to share my observations.

Tested: X1 M Sport sDrive 28i, and X1 no line xDrive 28i Ultimate Package + Lighting Package, both MY2013.

M Sport Line ride isn't too harsh. The suspension stiffness reminded me of the ride in the 2007 e93 (328i convertible): stiff, assertive, but not uncomfortable.

I wore a puffy winter jacket, and I still felt comfortable in the sport seats. I didn't notice any sliding when I turned.

I thought the xDrive 28i suspension stiffness over bumps was the same as the M Sport, but there was more body roll during turns. Mostly, I noticed how much more my body slid side to side on the standard seats vs the sport seats. I felt my muscles working more to keep myself centered in the seat.

I still found the steering in the xDrive base too heavy for my liking, and the steering in the sDrive M Sport had good weighting and precision.

The lighting package looks hot from the outside with the angel eyes. The rear interior reading lights do not have a clear cover over the bulbs! So, I can stick my finger in the hole and touch the bulb. Not that I would, but just a bit disappointing for a $1200 MSRP package. I'll still get it though, for the xenons...

Good news: I can confirm the Dec all season tire option for the M Sport package. My client advisor looked in the build options and found them.

Now all I gotta do is see that xLine oyster interior in person to see if I prefer it.

Yeah- that is just so weird. If they were going for 'edgy design' or whatever, it didn't seem to work there. It just looks like the covers fell off.

OK, I made up my mind in late December and ordered the M Sport in late Dec (12/20ish I think).

Now I'm pretending to be patient for it to arrive! Thanks again for all your advice and feedback.

You may be able to just get the covers off of an X3 or other car, it looked like it would pop right in. That would drive me nuts.

M Sport. I can't stand the plastic in the wheel well. I like the all one color look on the body panels. Don't get mono color with anything but M Sport

128i is the same. I have strong feeling that so is the E9x.

Agreed, the plastic feels EXTREMELY cheap. Like a Jetta I rented on vacation, last year.

Thanks! I know they aren't the easiest colors to keep clean, but I like the classic and classy look. It'll be the third black-on-tan-with-wood I've had, but the first with metallic black!

Nospam, I think you're right. A lot of E84 parts appear to come from E9x--not necessarily a bad thing. E9x was a great car, IMO.

I'll just have to teach my passengers not to put fingers in my car's lightholes. (Fully aware of how gross that sounds.)
