How to remove engine cover?

Just wondering if we can just pull the plastic engine cover with BMW emblem up to remove it off our X1s. I watched videos but then it's more confusing as it seems to be different for different models and years..

I want to see the actual engine inside it

To remove the engine cover you have to also remove the microfilter housing. And I don't think you would be able to leave the engine cover off, if that was your plan. There are some lines that connect to it (vent lines?). But there are no screws that hold the actual engine cover on.

*EDIT: I am referring to the sDrive28i. Not sure if yours is different.
