Cargo light won't go off

The light in the cargo area won't turn off, not even when the engine is off and the key has been removed from the ignition. How do I override this? This is going to drain my battery if I leave it on all night.

Is there a manual switch in the back to turn the cargo light on/off?

Sounds like a bad tailgate switch then, unfortunately. If your battery is in decent shape, it shouldn't drain it over night. If you're really worried, you can pull the bulb.

I think you're right about the tailgate switch. I was getting the red trunk light warning on my dash intermittently. Is this an expensive repair?

Don't worry about the light not going off...after 35 minutes being on it will go out automatically. I tested the time during a visit to the dealer, they didn't know, so I left the trunk lid open and we tested how long it would take for the cargo light to go off.
