Got my new X1 a couple of days ago and just did the install. Thank you for the link. You are right--easy once the console is down. Just stuck my hand in front and pushed on the clips--down in no time! I used Radio Shack a D-sub connector to piggy back the green-white wire on the console connector. Works great. I use a visor mount for my Escort 9500ix.

Glad to hear it worked out. If you pop out the black rings from the reading lights, you can easily see the back of those pesky clips. All thats needed is a paper clip with a right-angle bend to pull back the clips and the console drops. As you said the rest is simple, piggy-back on the green and white wire and find a ground. I ran the power to my V1 over the headliner and out thru the side of the vanity light. About 2 inches of wire are visible when the visor is up. This is now the 4th BMW, that I've wired this way.

I hardwired to the center roof console . Very easy to do and only requires an 18 inch phone cord . I tapped into the yellow and green wire with the Valentine one provided wiring kit That one is switched off the ignition

yup. and if you are going to do that, stuff a usb power supply in there and hardwire a dashcam. i just won a speeding ticket court case by using my dashcam video. officer said i was going 50 in a 35 and in rain. i was able to show i was going 42mph based on time stamps at two intersections, and that there was not a drop of rain.. had to endure 3 court proceedings though...they definitely don't make it easy.

Thanks for this post. I need to find constant power in the fuse box for a Waylens Secure360. Any recommendations?
