I've tested the Stinger vs 340i. 340i blows the stinger out of the water in many aspects...

Last time I checked, Kia Stinger despite weighing 320 lbs. more than 340i did 4.8 sec 0-60 and 13.3 sec 1/4 mile, also it managed to brake 60-0 in 113 ft and averaged 0.85 g for lateral acceleration. So I wouldn't say that "340i blows the stinger out of the water".

For comparison 2016 340i numbers are:
0-60 - 5.1 sec.
1/4 mile - 13.6 sec @ 105.3 mph
Braking 60-0 mph - 115 ft
Lateral acceleration - 0.84 g

We drive cars on paper? dint think so.
The overall feel of the 340i was way better. Suspension, power delivery, comfort, exhaust note.

No we drive actual cars, but since Stinger still only available to very limited reviewers, I prefer to trust MT review vs. BMW forum fanboy warriors.

I'll give the hater the benefit of the doubt. Let's say that the Stinger he allegedly drove was "blown out of the water" by the numb, soft-riding 340. Even if there's truth to it, even if he's the ONE person to drive it and not be even a little impressed, the US spec isn't even in production yet, and they're still making tweaks; the final product WILL be impressive.

Well, it will be impressive to those of us non-badgehoes with an open mind.

I don't think many people will be cross shopping Kia vs BMW. Most people pay for the badge anyways.

BTW, you're correct they're still tweaking it:

Kia is right now putting the last minute touches on its all-new 2018 Stinger sport sedan, and one of those final touches is a beefier exhaust note. In fact, that louder exhaust, according to CNET in an interview with Kia’s vice president of product planning, Orth Hedrick, is being done specifically for America because, well, America likes its performance cars loud.

Exactly. I do wonder, though, how they're going to have it on sale by December with all these last minute tweaks....

Great step for Kia. I like it ...looks good, and sounds like it carry's it weight well. It should be mentioned that this not the natural competitor for the 3 Series....the G70 which also looks sharp, is a more natural rival to the 3, its smaller and lighter so its measurable's should be better ....and its interior IMHO is better looking than the Stingers.....

I'll take Randy Pobst at face value anytime. He was clearly having a blast driving the car and he's driven just about every performance and pseudo-performance car out there.

Performance aside, this looks better than any of the current BMW's non-M lineup.

Count me and 2 of my buddies and people that will be. Badge envy changes over time... Look at Audi and Lexus... at one time they were upstarts also.

The thing about the Stinger is it gives S5 & 4 series performance but has rear legroom closer to a 5 series or S7. Thats a huge advantage for the typical 35-45 year old dad that is shopping for a sedan but doesnt want to spend over 60k and doesnt want to spend that much dough on a car that literally no longer turns heads because so many people have it. Couple that with the fact that the newer BMWs dont have the same sporty athleticism that they did 10 years ago and that their shape has not really been updated in 7 years, and I can definitely see more people looking at the KIA, or if not the KIA then the Genesis G70. Will it sell like hotcakes? Probably not, but even if they pull away 10% of buyers that would be a huge win for KIA.

The way he is comparing it to BMW and other cars is irritating. I would like to see him do a non scripted review.

p.s. let's talk about all the other cars you can buy for 33k
